NEWS UPDATE: The Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) has filed its comment to Sen. Bato Dela Rosa's urgent plea seeking to prevent gov't cooperation with the International Criminal Court.

The OSG asked the Supreme Court to deny his plea for due to an alleged lack of merit.

“To create new protections for one who long stood protected from accountability is to deepen the wounds already borne by those left behind. And to once more extend exceptional privileges to a petitioner who now seeks relief while evading lawful process sends a chilling message — not only to the victims of the drug war, but to all who look to the law for justice: that its protections are strongest for the powerful, and weakest for those who are now dead," the OSG said.

"Senator Dela Rosa invokes constitutional liberties in the name of fairness and equal protection. But his circumstances are far from ordinary. The offenses charged against him concern crimes alleged to have struck at the conscience of humanity itself. Equally extraordinary were the years during which he remained beyond the reach of prosecution and insulated by power," the OSG added. | via Ian Laqui

MAJORITY SENATORS CRY ATTACK, BUT GUNFIRE SOURCE UNCERTAIN

Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa and his senator-allies claimed they were being attacked as gunshots rang out inside the Senate building on Wednesday night, even if there were no indications that they were the actual target.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos likewise said that government forces were not the source of the gunshots.
