SHREDDING DRIVE BELTS?

If you modified your engine or components on your CVT, you may have come across shredding a belt or two.

We have seen hundreds of cases like this. Let us share some facts that causes Drive Belt Failure.

1. Replacing the Drive face with poorly designed
Ventilation Fins or with a different pitch than stock.

2. Poor CVT Case ventilation (Blocked or dirty ventilation ports).

3. Oil and water contamination on inner CVT case and
components.

4. Incorrect Drive Belt size per Specification.

5. Substandard Quality Drive Belt.

6. Higher RPM means more Heat. Extra ventilation is
required for high RPM CVT's.

To keep components working properly, make sure to use the correct lubricants (Ex. silicone lubricant).

If you wish to accomplish much higher RPM than what your CVT is rated for, make sure to create more ventilation ports to keep the belt from excessive heat damage.

BIG MISTAKES:

We have seen a lot of people using slightly shorter belts to increase torque. It's a lot of fun at the beginning until you realize that your gear bearings and main bearings wear out much faster.

Please use proper tuning techniques. Don't just listen to the experimental tuner online. You may be doing more damage than good.

For optimal CVT tuning, consider torque springs, clutch springs, slider weights and if you know a machinist, have him shave the inner variator pockets to extend the roller weight contact surface.

Remember!: Problems start when you replace vital stock parts with poorly designed aftermarket parts. Most of the time, aftermarket performance parts work as a set with modifications to the stock casing.

Ride safe! Cheers!
