On May 7, Global Learning Access (GLA) celebrated the culmination of our 𝘿𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙄 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝘾𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 (𝘿𝘼𝙍𝘾𝙋). We are incredibly proud of this first cohort—professionals from the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) and other key agencies—who are now equipped to lead the National AI Upskilling effort for Filipino MSMEs.

The program’s hands-on, practical approach came to life as GLA Lead Expert Jeffery Heil walked through standout capstone projects from the cohort —participants who came in with little to no AI experience, now presenting real, applied solutions to challenges in their workplaces and daily lives. Hearing them speak about their journey since March made the growth impossible to miss.

Congratulations to our Cohort 1 graduates! That kind of growth doesn't happen by accident. GLA and PTTC built this program to make AI upskilling genuinely accessible to Filipino MSMEs—and Cohort 1 is proof that the foundation is solid. We are proud to reach this milestone alongside PTTC Executive Director Clare Mari Torralba and the entire PTTC team, and extend our deep thanks to Ms. Josephine Romero of the PCORP Private Sector Jobs and Skills Corporation for her strategic role in laying the groundwork for this partnership.

The culmination was a milestone. But the learning—and what it unlocks for Filipino MSMEs—is just getting started. 🇵🇭

Since March 2026, over 50 government personnel from the PTTC Philippine Training Trade Center (PTTC) — the training arm of the Department of Trade and Industry — and partner agencies have been quietly leading a digital revolution. Under a Memorandum of Agreement between PTTC and Global Learning Access (GLA), the 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 was born, and Cohort 1 is mastering the tools needed to ensure Filipino MSMEs don't just survive in an AI-powered economy. They thrive.

Guided by GLA Lead Expert Jeffery Heil, participants are working through three online courses: SPARK AI, Foundations of Generative AI, and ENGAGE, building practical AI skills they can bring directly to the MSMEs they serve. We're grateful to PTTC Executive Director Clare Mari Torralba for her visionary, hands-on leadership, and to Josephine Romero of PCORP for her pivotal role in bridging this partnership. Yesterday marked another milestone for Cohort 1, and there's more ahead. We're just getting started. 🎓🇵🇭

The Philippine Normal University (PNU), the National Center for Teacher Education, continues to advance its institutional vision of nurturing humane and globally competent educators through the ethical and purposeful integration of emerging technologies in teaching, research, and extension.

In line with this commitment, PNU sent Associate Professor Carl O. Dellomos to represent the University in the CATALYST: Harnessing Generative AI for Work, Learning, and Innovation training program held at Asia Pacific College, Makati City, on October 21–22, 2025.

The CATALYST program, organized by Global Learning Access (GLA)—a Silicon Valley–based organization dedicated to 21st-century skills development and innovative pedagogy—served as a pioneering two-day intensive training focused on harnessing generative AI for learning, work, and innovation. The program is among the first aligned with the National AI Upskilling Roadmap, developed in collaboration with the Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Association of the Philippines (AAP). Supported by the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) and the Private Sector Jobs and Skills Corporation (PCORP), this initiative seeks to empower Filipinos with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in an AI-powered world—ensuring that no one is left behind.

Led by GLA’s U.S.-based EdTech experts, the program offered world-class instruction, internationally recognized best practices, and proven frameworks designed to integrate creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and workplace transformation through responsible AI use.

PNU’s participation in this initiative underscores the University’s proactive role in preparing educators to harness generative AI in ethical and transformative ways. Through programs such as CATALYST, PNU continues to strengthen faculty capacity, enhance classroom practices, and promote responsible digital innovation consistent with the University’s broader goals for quality assurance and institutional development.

Reflecting on his experience, Prof. Dellomos described the training as both transformative and validating for educators. “The training sessions were adult-oriented, practical, and highly engaging. The facilitators did not separate theory from practice; instead, they demonstrated AI tools in real-life contexts, making the learning process more authentic and meaningful,” he shared.

He further emphasized that prompt engineering was highlighted as a foundational skill in maximizing AI’s educational potential. “It validated much of what we’ve already started exploring at PNU, including our creative AI-driven projects such as YouTube music productions and classroom applications,” he added.

Inspired by the experience, Prof. Dellomos expressed optimism that PNU, with its collective expertise and leadership in teacher education, could soon organize a National AI Literacy Summit to further strengthen the ethical and pedagogical use of AI across the Philippine education sector.

Through sustained engagement with global and national AI initiatives, PNU continues to demonstrate leadership in shaping future-ready educators—professionals equipped to navigate and humanize technology in the service of learning, innovation, and nation-building.
