Photographs, paper, text, and found images are cut from their former lives and reassembled into works charged with memory, tension, humor, and imagination. Through destruction and renewal, the exhibition reveals how scraps and remnants can form unexpected connections and new narratives. Discover how broken parts return in altered and compelling forms.

'Wilds of Eldraine'

These sewn terrains trace and map choices, changes, and growth in life over the years. Just like the wilds of Eldraine, a fantasy world, the stitches do not follow a consistent pattern and instead flow away or move toward each other, unpredictable but constantly evolving. With some areas mark moments of blooming, this unusual tapestry is a map that offers the beauty in change despite chaos and discomfort.

♡ I've been yearning to branch out into embroidery and textile work as a way of expanding my collage practice and I'm so grateful I finally found the chance to do so through this exhibit. To more textile works like this!

Collage and embroidery on Tokyo Metro subway map

This work traces notions of displacement from childhood. Growing up in Japan and navigating among diverse cultures within an American educational system while making sense of the “Filipino identity” as a child of OFW parents, this multi-layered conundrum of displaced existence has generated disorienting notions between self, nationality, and lived experience. Displaced identities are then like lines on a map —scattered across multiple locations, a dismembered sense of self, with borders defining where we can or can’t go, who we can or can’t be.

However, the stitching of imagined lines becomes the artist's manner of resistance to these convoluted borders.

This collage reworks a 2021 drawing of a shooting star.

Inspired by astrology maps and appropriating images from "Urania’s Mirror" (1824/25) by Reverend Richard Rouse Bloxam, this works traces the intersections of twin-flame lovers brought together by cosmic forces.

Artist Disclaimer: I don't love story works?! But for some reason, this felt aligned. And so this makes my first love related artwork. Grateful to for giving me this lovely work and letting me play with it?!

We've been talking about a collab for over a year, where I, as a woman artist, infiltrate and take over a male artist's work. Didn't expect this to come out as a love tale.
