Our resource speaker for our Indigo Dye Workshop, Mr Luis Agaid Jr. hails from Namarabar, Abra where the history of indigo dyeing has been present in their village for as long as he can remember. His father, the late Luis Agaid is known as the "Father of Philippine Natural Dyes".

The indigenous peoples of Abra are collectively known as Tingguians but they prefer to call themselves “Itneg”.

DID YOU KNOW? The indigo natural dye comes from several species of plant such as woad have provided indigo throughout the history. But most natural indigo is obtained from those in the tenus Indigofera, which are native to the tropics.

alongside the Namarabar Natural Dye Cooperative Dye Idigo of Abra, Benguet will have a one day workshop on Natural Dyes & Indigo Dye this August 17, Saturday. Their story will amaze you.

Module will include making actual dye from natural materials, actual dye methods and other things you need to know in dyeing. + a discussion on current industry changes and how these techniques are now relevant more than ever. There will also be a short film viewing on Indigo.

Ready made dyes and fabrics from the Namarabar Natural Dye Cooperative will be for sale at the workshop. 4,850 per person. Special rates for group registration. This includes all dye materials, am & pm snacks and lunch. Venue is at . Limited 18 slots.
