THREE PERSONS LINKED TO “TERMITE GANG” NABBED IN ILOILO CITY DRUG OPERATION

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has underscored its sustained and intelligence-driven campaign against illegal drugs and organized criminal networks following a successful anti-drug operation in Iloilo City that led to the arrest of three individuals believed to be part of a mobile criminal group linked to burglary-related activities commonly referred to as the “Termite Gang,” which has been reported operating in several parts of the country.

On June 16, 2026, operatives of the Special Operations Unit 6 of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (SOU6-DEG), in coordination with Iloilo City Police Station 10 and the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) Visayas, conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bolilao, Mandurriao District. The operation resulted in the seizure of more than one kilogram or approximately 1,020 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated Standard Drug Price of ₱6,936,000.00.

Three individuals were arrested during the operation and identified through their aliases as “JR,” “RJ,” and “Alog,” also known as “Foreman.” Initial validation indicates that two of the suspects are siblings, while authorities are also verifying their reported connections to drug distribution activities with possible links extending to Metro Manila. The suspects were placed under surveillance for several weeks based on consolidated information from concerned citizens and intelligence monitoring efforts.

All recovered evidence has been turned over to the Regional Forensic Unit 6 for laboratory examination, while appropriate charges for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for the precision and discipline demonstrated in the operation, highlighting the value of coordinated inter-unit efforts and community-supported policing.

“Ang tagumpay ng operasyon na ito ay resulta ng tuloy-tuloy na intelligence build-up at maayos na koordinasyon ng ating mga units. We will not allow these groups to establish foothold in our communities. Tuloy-tuloy ang ating operasyon, at mas paiigtingin pa natin ang presensya ng PNP sa lahat ng rehiyon,” the Chief PNP said.

He further emphasized that under the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly the Enhanced Managing Police Operations framework, field units are directed to maintain proactive, intelligence-led operations against drug syndicates and organized criminal groups in support of national security and public safety priorities under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The PNP also acknowledged the critical role of public cooperation, noting that timely community reports continue to significantly contribute to successful law enforcement operations.

As part of its continuing reform and modernization efforts, the PNP reiterated its commitment to a more responsive and accountable policing institution anchored on the principle of a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman,” reflecting a law enforcement service that is more visible, more trusted, and more effective across all communities nationwide.

PNP WCPC’s PERSISTENT EFFORTS YIELD STRONGER CASES AGAINST FUGITIVES WHO HAVE LONG EVADED JUSTICE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed the recognition of the Department of Justice (DOJ) on the sustained efforts of the PNP Women and Children Protection Center (WCPC) in the intensified campaign against long-wanted persons and individuals involved in exploitation-related cases, highlighting strengthened coordination between law enforcement and the justice sector in ensuring that fugitives are brought to account.

In one of the recent cases highlighted by authorities, a court in Manila rendered a decision convicting an individual for qualified trafficking in persons involving a 15-year-old victim. The case stemmed from an operation conducted by PNP WCPC operatives, in coordination with supporting units and with information provided by field sources, which led to the arrest of the accused after surveillance and a carefully planned entrapment operation.

Records show that the operation was triggered after authorities validated information regarding ongoing illegal activities. A poseur-buyer was later deployed, resulting in the subject offering illicit services involving the minor in exchange for money. This led to the immediate arrest of the suspect and the recovery of marked money, which became part of the evidence presented in court.

The court found the accused guilty beyond reasonable doubt, affirming the elements of qualified trafficking in persons, particularly the recruitment and offering of a minor for sexual exploitation in exchange for consideration. The ruling also underscored the weight of consistent prosecution evidence presented during trial.

The PNP noted that this case reflects the broader efforts of WCPC units nationwide in tracking individuals who have long evaded arrest, particularly those involved in offenses against women and children. These operations are supported by continuous intelligence validation, surveillance, and close coordination with partner agencies.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., said the organization remains committed to ensuring that those who attempt to evade the law will still be held accountable through sustained and lawful police operations.

“Hindi po kami titigil sa pagtugis sa mga taong matagal nang nagtatago sa batas. We will continue to work hand in hand with our partners in government to make sure that justice is served for the victims and that the public continues to trust in our system,” the Chief PNP said.

The initiative is aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, supporting more strategic and intelligence-driven policing efforts nationwide, in line with the governance direction of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for a safer and more secure Philippines.

The PNP further assured the public that it will sustain its intensified operations against wanted persons while strengthening victim-centered approaches and inter-agency cooperation to ensure successful case resolution and conviction.

The organization remains guided by its continuing commitment under “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”

He was located at a commercial establishment in Barangay Highway Hills, Mandaluyong City, where authorities served multiple warrants of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court in Dolores, Eastern Samar.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating units for the accomplishment and emphasized the importance of teamwork in serving warrants and pursuing wanted persons.

“Ang bawat warrant of arrest na maayos nating naipatutupad ay mahalagang hakbang upang mabigyan ng pagkakataon ang ating mga korte na mapakinggan at maresolba ang mga kaso. Hindi natin hahayaang maging hadlang ang layo o paglipat ng lugar upang maiwasan ang pananagutan sa ilalim ng batas,” said PGen Nartatez.

He added, “This operation demonstrates how coordination among police units can produce meaningful results. We will continue to work closely with our partners across the country to ensure that persons facing criminal charges are located and presented before the proper judicial authorities while respecting their rights throughout the process.”

The arrest is aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which seeks to improve operational efficiency, strengthen coordination among police units, and support the effective enforcement of court processes nationwide.
