In observance of Proclamation 711, government and community leaders are united in celebrating the 30th National Autism Consciousness Week (January 19–25, 2026). This initiative aims to foster a society that genuinely accepts, accommodates, and appreciates individuals with autism both locally and globally.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition involving persistent challenges with social communication, restricted interests and repetitive behavior. While autism is considered a lifelong condition, the need for services and support because of these challenges varies among individuals with autism.

The Department of Health (DOH) is proposing to declare Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) a national public health emergency due to an alarming 500-percent increase in cases among young people aged 15 to 25. The Philippines now has the highest number of new HIV cases in the Western Pacific Region. Since 1984, there have been 148,831 HIV cases recorded nationwide, with 5,101 cases logged in the first quarter of this year alone—an average of 57 new cases daily. Sexual contact remains the primary mode of transmission, predominantly among males who have s*x with males.
