SHC - Community Outreach Program

The 𝐒𝐇𝐂 𝐂𝐎𝐏 joyfully hosted its annual 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 last 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 6, 2025 at the covered court of Brgy. Barra, Lucena City, bringing together members of the Barranian Seniors, Golden Hearts, and Young at Hearts. A total of 102 older persons joined the celebration, filling the venue with warmth, laughter, and holiday cheer.

The event featured fun games including Pinoy Henyo, Calamansi Relay, and Bring Me, special presentations including awarding of Magandang Lola and Poging Lolo, shared meals, and prizes-giving activities that made the gathering both festive and memorable. Adding to the significance of the occasion was the special participation of the Barangay Chairperson of Barra, 𝗛𝗼𝗻. 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼, who offered a heartfelt Christmas message to the attendees—affectionately addressing them as “aking mga Lolo at Lola” (“my grandfathers and grandmothers”).

The success of this year’s Christmas Party stands as a testament to the strong spirit of community, gratitude, and care for the older persons of SHC, who continue to be cherished and honored members of the community.

𝐂𝐎𝐏 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 2025

As we close another academic year, our year-end community outreach activity serves as a time for compassion, reflection, and forward-thinking. On June 3, 2025, the COP held its year-end event, during which participants evaluated the impact of the past year’s initiatives and thoughtfully planned for more meaningful efforts in the year ahead. It was a moment to celebrate our accomplishments and renew our commitment to creating an even greater impact in the future.

𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 2025

The Annual Evaluation and Planning for 2025 was conducted from April 22 to May 14, 2025, with Sacred Heart College’s community partners, which included nine groups from Brgy. Barra, Brgy. Wakas, Purok Landfill, and Purok Riverside. The sessions were held from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the morning, and from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the afternoon.

The annual evaluation and planning process with community partners is a cornerstone of the Community Outreach Program (COP). This collaborative effort allows both the program and its partners to review the outcomes of previous initiatives, identify areas for improvement, and collectively shape the direction of future activities. By engaging in open dialogue and shared decision-making, the process helps ensure that programs remain relevant, effective, and aligned with the needs and priorities of the community. Ultimately, this annual practice strengthens partnerships, enhances transparency, and supports the long-term success of community-based initiatives.

A fun-filled team-building event for the senior citizen groups from our community partners was held last Friday, May 23, 2025, at Sireyo Resort, located in Brgy. Ibabang Palale, Tayabas City. The gathering brought together the Barranian Seniors of Brgy. Barra, the Golden Hearts of Purok Riverside, and the Young at Heart of Brgy. Wakas for a day of bonding, laughter, and summer fun.

The program was organized and facilitated by the COP staff, with Mr. Narciso Cruzat, Jr. delivering the opening remarks to warmly welcome all participants. After the program, participants enjoyed snacks while relaxing and swimming in the resort’s pool. They were also treated to a delicious lunch and afternoon snacks, generously donated by Dr. Ana Libabel Ferreras. The event successfully created a joyful space for older adults to connect, move, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of summer together.

𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞. – 𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 84:5 (𝐍𝐈𝐕)

This year, the community partner's pilgrimage was a significant journey of faith and fellowship, held at Divine Mercy Parish in Barangay Ayusan 2, Tiaong, Quezon on April 8, 2025. The event emphasized the importance of the Lenten season, with the help of COP, and encouraged a deeper sense of reflection, faith, and community. The pilgrimage featured the Way of the Cross, led by Mr. Narciso Cruzat and Ms. Hazel San Gil, along with a Lenten Recollection and Eucharistic Celebration facilitated by Fr. George Vargas.

Personnel from Sacred Heart College (SHC) and community partners from various groups participated in this sacred event, including Barranian Seniors and SVTP of Barangay Barra; Young at Heart and SIKLAB of Barangay Wakas; Sikap of Purok Landfill; and, Buklod Bisig and Golden Hearts of Purok Riverside. Together, they embarked on this spiritual pilgrimage, united in faith, reflection, and a shared commitment to journey, not just in place, but in spirit.
