It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Simon Fisher-Becker. His incarnation of the Moine Gras in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone brought a unique warmth and lightness to the Hogwarts universe.

But Simon was much more than a talented actor: he was a generous soul, a man of great kindness and an irresistible sense of humor. Those who were lucky enough to be by his side know how much he lit up every room with his presence.

I am grateful to have seen his talent shine in our magical world, and my thoughts are with his family and all who loved him.

Thank you, Simon, for the joy you've brought to so many fans over the years. You will always be a part of the great Harry Potter family.

British actor Simon Fisher-Becker passed away this Sunday at the age of 63, according to his husband on his personal Facebook account.

"Hey there everyone. I'm Tony, Simon's husband. I have some very sad news. At 15:50 this afternoon Simon passed away. Gonna keep this account open for a while. Not sure if I will repost. Thank you," the widower wrote, without providing details of the cause of death.

Fisher-Becker was part of the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and played the "Fat Fraile", resident of Hufflepuff, one of Hogwarts' houses. In addition, he was part of seasons 5 and 6 of the popular series "Doctor Who" with his character Dorium Maldovar and in the hit BBC comedy series "Puppy Love". In addition, he was part of the cast of the Oscar-winning 2012 film, "The Miserables."

His manager Kim Barry told Metro media that the late actor "was a very close personal friend for 15 years."
