Who’s excited for Toy Story 5? 🎬🍿
Some students become part of the First Beat family for years, and Ty is one of them.
Ty has been studying with us since 2023. He took a short break to focus on his studies, but it wasn’t long before he found his way back to music.
Ty is a very smart student, and what I really appreciate about him is how he manages to balance academics and music. Despite being focused on his studies, he continues to grow in guitar with consistency and discipline.
While his foundation is in classical guitar, Ty also enjoys learning pop songs through fingerstyle guitar. Unlike traditional strumming, fingerstyle allows the guitarist to play the melody and accompaniment at the same time, helping develop coordination, musicality, and independence between the fingers.
For our Disney-themed recital, *Happily Ever After*, Ty will be performing *When She Loved Me* from *Toy Story 2*. It’s a beautiful piece that highlights the expressive side of fingerstyle guitar.
Of course, Ty still has a lot to learn and improve, but that’s what music is all about—growth through patience, discipline, and continuous practice.
We’re proud of how far he has come, and we’re excited to see him perform at *Happily Ever After*.

One year ago, 5-year-old Gabo was still learning his first guitar chords with Teacher Chin. In fact, he started his guitar lessons at First Beat when he was only 4 years old.
Back then, some of his chords were simplified—pressing only one string while letting the other notes ring as open strings. Even at that stage, he already had the courage to perform in our recital.
Today, the difference is incredible.
Gabo is now playing full chords, which is a huge milestone for any young guitarist. Full chords require finger strength, coordination, proper hand positioning, and accuracy. For a child his age, consistently forming clean chords is not easy and takes a lot of patience and practice.
In this video, Gabo and Teacher Chin are playing "Hard to Believe" by the Eraserheads. While the song sounds relaxed and easy to listen to, it contains several chord changes that require good timing and smooth transitions—skills that take years to develop.
Of course, there is still a lot for Gabo to learn and improve on. That's true for every musician. But considering that he is only 5 years old and started lessons at age 4, his progress is truly remarkable. His growth over the past year is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and love for music.
One of Teacher Chin's favorite memories while teaching this song happened when she first sang it to Gabo. After listening carefully, he smiled and said, “Nakakaiyak naman ang kantang 'yan.”
Moments like that remind us that music is more than just notes, chords, and techniques. Music teaches children how to listen, express themselves, and connect with emotions. Even at such a young age, Gabo was able to feel the story behind the song.
At First Beat Music School, we don't just teach skills—we teach with heart. ❤️ We believe that great music education comes not only from knowledgeable teachers, but from teachers who genuinely care about their students' growth, confidence, and love for music.
We're proud of you, Gabo, and we're excited to watch your musical journey continue. 🎸
If you'd like your child to develop their musical skills and confidence just like Gabo, now is the perfect time to start.

When Ash first joined First Beat Music School, she was a complete beginner with no prior ukulele experience.
Today, she's confidently performing 1, 2, 3, 4 by the Plain White T's, complete with steady strumming, smooth chord transitions, and even playing the song's intro melody herself. For a beginner, these skills require strong rhythm, coordination, timing, and consistent practice.
We're incredibly proud of how much she has accomplished in such a short time!
If you've ever wanted to learn an instrument—or if you're looking for music lessons for your child—remember that every musician starts somewhere. With proper guidance, regular practice, and a passion for learning, amazing progress is possible.

An acoustic moment with Nathan 🎸
Performing Whenever I Call You ‘Friend’ using a fingerpicking (plucking) style, focusing on clean articulation, steady timing, and expressive playing. Each note is carefully placed, allowing the melody to speak naturally and clearly through the guitar.
What stands out in this performance is the attention to detail—maintaining consistent rhythm while shaping the dynamics of each phrase, creating a warm and musical flow. It’s always rewarding to see musicality continue to develop through simple but meaningful pieces like this, where control and expression begin to work together.
Despite being part of the Gen Z generation, Nathan shows a genuine appreciation for classic and timeless songs like this. It’s refreshing to see how he enjoys and connects with older music, bringing it to life in his own acoustic interpretation.
Step by step, this kind of progress builds not just technique, but true musicianship.
Olyvia on the drums, bringing What I’ve Been Looking For to life 🥁✨

From keeping steady groove to locking in with the music, this is real progress in the making.
We can’t wait to see her shine on stage 🎭
