The Academic Council convened on May 4 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM to deliberate on the undergraduate honors list for the First Semester of School Year 2025โ2026, finalize preparations for the Honors Convocation and Recognition Program, and address related academic matters and concerns.
During the meeting, the official list of honors students submitted by the Office of the Registrar underwent counter-validation and verification by the Director of Academic Affairs to ensure accuracy, reliability, and credibility.
The validated list was then presented before the Academic Council for review and approval.
College President Dr. Elmer de Leon presided over the deliberation and led the Council in reviewing the institutional policies and guidelines on academic honors as stipulated in the student handbook.
Following extensive discussions and evaluation, Mr. Joemark Ablian, Director for Research, Development and Extension (RDE), moved for the approval of the honors students from the first to third year levels for the First Semester of S.Y. 2025โ2026.
Based on the approved list, a total of 21 students qualified for the Directorโs List, composed of 17 students from Teacher Education, two from Business Education, one from Accountancy, and one from Computer Technology.
Meanwhile, 148 students qualified for the Deanโs List, including 84 from Teacher Education, 29 from Business Education, 28 from Accountancy, and seven from Computer Technology. It was noted that the highest number of awardees came from the first-year level, followed by the second year.
The Council recognized that the semester recorded the highest number of academically performing students to date despite the institutionโs strict academic monitoring and quality assurance mechanisms.
This achievement reflects the studentsโ commitment to academic excellence and the Collegeโs continuing efforts in academic capacitation and support.
Considering the large number of awardees and the expected attendance of parents and guardians, the Council also discussed venue concerns. Consequently, it was decided to move the Honors Convocation to a later date to secure a bigger and more suitable venue.
The 8th Honors Convocation is now scheduled on June 4 at 3:00 PM, a day after the Commencement Exercises, and will still form part of the celebration of LPCโs 29th Founding Anniversary.
The Council likewise reviewed, finalized, and approved the protocol and proceedings of the convocation, including the proposed guest speaker, who traditionally is an accomplished alumnus or alumna of the College, as endorsed by the Office of the Registrar, the programโs lead office. The motion for approval was carried by Ms. April Cruz, Director of Academic Affairs.
Having settled all matters relevant to the conduct of the 8th Honors Convocation, the Academic Council approved and passed a corresponding resolution for this purpose.
Meanwhile, details regarding co-curricular awards, outstanding organizations, and special citations will be finalized by the Office of Student Affairs, Discipline and Services in coordination with the Supreme Student Council.
These recommendations shall be presented in a subsequent Academic Council meeting for deliberation, approval, and resolution. #

Limay Polytechnic College (LPC) warmly welcomed officials from Santiago โSantyโ R. Austria College (SSRAC) for a benchmarking activity focused on the application, processing, and acquisition of Institutional Recognition (IR), a requirement for local colleges and universities pursuant to CHED Memorandum Order No. 18, series of 2022.
SSRAC is currently preparing for its application for Institutional Recognition. During the benchmarking session, LPC President Dr. Elmer De Leon shared LPCโs challenging yet inspiring journey toward obtaining its IR status. He recounted the institutionโs experiences marked by sacrifices, struggles, stress, and resilience that tested the faith and determination of the entire academic community.
Despite numerous challenges, LPC successfully secured its Institutional Recognition in 2022, coinciding with the resumption of its first face-to-face graduation ceremonies after the pandemic and the celebration of its 25th founding anniversary. Historically, LPC was among the last two institutions in the country granted IR at a time when nearly 22 local universities and colleges (LUCs) were reportedly delisted.
Dr. De Leon likewise presented LPCโs institutional journey through the years, highlighting its humble beginnings, challenges, milestones, recent developments under its concluded five-year development plan, and strategic directions for the next five years. He emphasized how LPC continues to thrive and achieve significant milestones despite limited resources, environmental challenges, and regulatory demands.
โIf we, as a small school with limited resources and a roller-coaster journey, were able to make it, then all the more that you can,โ Dr. De Leon encouraged the SSRAC delegation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mark Anthony Banda, Coordinator for Quality Assurance, discussed LPCโs actual IR application process, including documentary preparations and compliance requirements leading to the approval of the CHED Commission En Banc. He also presented sample forms and institutional documents from LPCโs digital and physical archives. Furthermore, he extended his assistance by sharing his contact details to help address future queries from SSRAC throughout their IR journey.
On the other hand, SSRAC President Dr. Irene Diaz expressed her heartfelt gratitude and admiration for LPCโs warm hospitality, invaluable assistance, and genuine willingness to guide their institution.
Kayaโt walang hanggang pasasalamat,โ shared Dr. Diaz.
In response, LPC reaffirmed its commitment to continuously support SSRAC not only in its Institutional Recognition journey but also in various academic and developmental undertakings, including research and extension, faculty development through LPCโs CPD Providership, student development, records management, quality assurance, internationalization, and library development.
This initiative reflects LPCโs continuing thrust of inspiring and empowering small schools to attain quality standards and become globally competitive institutions despite limitations.
Together, both institutions aspire to build a strong culture of quality education that will benefit Filipino learners and create meaningful impact in communities and global society at large.
Following the successful implementation of LPCโs Institutional Twinning Program, the College is now advancing toward a โTri-Winning Program,โ with SSRAC envisioned as one of the tri-partner institutions.
Present during the benchmarking activity from SSRAC were Dr. Irene Diaz, Mr. Mark Jason Maducdoc, Ms. Danielle Joy Yabes, Ms. Angeline Esteban, and Ms. Romina Pillarina.
They were welcomed by LPC officials led by Dr. Elmer De Leon, together with Ms. Remedios Mendoza, Mr. Mark Anthony Banda, Ms. April Cruz, Dr. John Levy Rueda, Mr. Joemark Ablian, Ms. Jesica Marata (host) and Mr. John Rudolph Barbin (documenter).
As part of the program, LPC, through Dr. De Leon and Ms. Mendoza, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to SSRAC through Dr. Diaz. The benchmarking activity concluded with a campus tour showcasing LPCโs internationalization initiatives, SDG Corner, and extension projects, such as Pamahayanan, Edukalinga, and Fineries Emporium.
The said benchmarking activity was organized, coordinated, prepared and processed by Mr. Mark Anthony Banda assisted by Ms. Cheyser Charrese Gatchula (for multimedia, corporate commemorative and certificates), Ms. Sheryl Bartolo (for financial processing and transaction), Ms. Belen Marteja (for food and arrangement), and Mr. John Rudolph Barbin (for technical assistance and documentation). #
