more nights to get through,

more reasons to keep going
when I no longer wanted to.

People see the strength.

They don’t see the mornings
I wished I could skip,

the exhaustion of starting over,

or how heavy it feels
to keep living when you’re already tired.

So no,
I wasn’t strong.

I was just a person
trying to make it through a life
that didn’t get any easier.

And somehow,
tomorrow kept coming anyway.
