Hunyo 8.

A campfire does more than illuminate a campsiteโit reveals what draws people together. In scouting, shared adventures, challenges, and victories often create bonds strong enough to stir emotions beyond friendship. There is nothing wrong with developing feelings for a fellow scout; after all, the heart rarely asks for permission. Yet the moment feelings begin to outweigh purpose, the flame that once guided can become the fire that distracts.
Many view restrictions on romantic relationships within scouting as an attack on personal freedom. They argue that emotions are natural and should never be regulated by an organization. While that may sound convincing, it misses the point entirely. The issue is not whether scouts can feel, but whether those feelings should become the reason they show up.
Scouting was founded to build leaders, not love stories. The World Organization of the Scout Movement states that scouting exists to develop young people into responsible citizens guided by values and service. Every activity, from community outreach to survival training, is designed to strengthen character rather than satisfy personal desires. When attention shifts from helping others to pursuing someone, the mission begins to lose its direction.
The danger is not romance itself but the priorities it can create. A scout distracted by affection may focus more on being noticed than on making a difference. Service becomes secondary, leadership becomes performative, and participation becomes conditional. What should be a movement centered on selflessness slowly bends toward self-interest.
At the end of every camp, the tents come down and the campfire fades, but the values learned remain. Long after crushes disappear and emotions change, a scout's commitment to service continues to define who they are. Scouting does not ask young people to suppress their hearts; it asks them to place purpose above impulse. So when the uniform is worn and the oath is recited, are scouts showing up to serve a cause greater than themselvesโor merely to seek someone else's attention?

World Environment Day is a global platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries annually, first held in 1973, it has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development and wildlife crime.
Flourishing with its theme, "Now For Climate", this year's global observance is hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan. The event operates under the broader umbrella of the United Nation's Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
Millions of scouts, schools, and local authorities are actively conducting clean-up drives, educational forums, and public awareness initiatives worldwide through the heart of volunteerism.
This year focuses on climate change, under the urgent signals that the Earth sends --- we as scouts respond with initiatives alongside United Nation's Environment Programme's global campaign.

โLet us wear our love to our country not only on our chest but in our hearts and also sa ating ginagawa,โ emphasized by Atty. Dano during the celebration of the 128th National Flag Day held on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Rizal Park, Kidapawan City Plaza, where members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP), Rover Scouts, and Knights of Columbus gathered in honor of the Philippine flag and the nationโs unity.
The said activity highlighted the importance of patriotism, solidarity, and remembrance of the sacrifices made by Filipino heroes for the countryโs freedom. Participants joined the program to show their respect and support for the National Flag Day celebration.
During his message, Atty. Orlando M. Daรฑo also explained the significance of the symbols found in the Philippine flag. โThe sun and stars reminds us that we are going to rise and shine as one nation and that is our flag,โ he stated.
Celebration served as a reminder to the youth and the community to continue valuing nationalism and to express love for the country not only through words, but also through meaningful actions and service to the nation.
