DOLE-Aklan Equips Graduating Students with Employment Readiness Knowledge
โ€‹
โ€‹On June 2, 2026, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Aklan conducted a Labor Education for Graduating Students (LEGS) session for 602 graduating students, including 327 female students, from Garcia College of Technology as part of its continuing commitment to preparing future jobseekers for a successful transition from school to the workforce.
During the activity, the DOLE-Aklan LEGS Focal Person Ms. Joeuella C. Faiganan, discussed essential provisions of labor standards laws, equipping students with knowledge of their rights, benefits, and responsibilities as future members of the workforce. The discussion also highlighted the significance of the First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act, which provides first-time jobseekers with free access to government-issued pre-employment documents and clearances.
In addition, participants were introduced to PhilJobNet, the government's official online job-matching portal, where jobseekers can explore employment opportunities, create professional profiles, and connect with potential employers nationwide. The students were guided on how to register and maximize the platform in their job search journey.
The students actively participated in the discussions and expressed appreciation for the valuable insights shared during the activity. By providing timely labor education and employment facilitation services, DOLE-Aklan remains steadfast in its mission of helping young Filipinos achieve productive and meaningful employment.

HAPPENING NOW!!!
TUPAD Beneficiaries Join Brigada Eskwela 2026: Strengthening Schools Through Community Service
In support of the annual Brigada Eskwela program of the Department of Education (DepEd), beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employmentโ€™s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program actively participated in various school preparation activities to help ensure that public schools are ready, safe, and conducive for learning as classes resume.
TUPAD beneficiaries were deployed to assist in the cleaning, repair, and beautification of school facilities under the Brigada Eskwela initiative. Their tasks included clearing school grounds, cutting grasses, cleaning classrooms, painting school structures, repairing minor damages, and disposing of waste materials accumulated during the school break.
The activity is part of the convergence efforts between DOLE and local stakeholders to provide temporary employment opportunities while contributing to meaningful community development projects. Through their participation, TUPAD workers not only earned short-term income to support their families but also became active partners in preparing schools for the opening of classes.
As schools prepare to welcome thousands of learners for the new academic year, the combined efforts of educators, local government units, volunteers, and TUPAD beneficiaries demonstrate the true spirit of โ€œBayanihanโ€โ€”working together to build better learning environments and brighter futures for Filipino children.
Through TUPAD and Brigada Eskwela, every cleaned classroom, repaired facility, and beautified school ground becomes a symbol of community solidarity and shared responsibility for quality education.

This effort is carried out in strategic collaboration with key partner agencies, including the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) โ€“ Province of Aklan, and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Stakeholders, the DOLE - Accredited Co-Partners.

The initiative underscores a coordinated inter-agency approach aimed at enhancing market access for local producers while ensuring the availability of affordable commodities for the public. It is designed to provide affordable, high-quality goods directly to communities while supporting local farmers, fisherfolk, and small entrepreneurs. By minimizing unnecessary layers in the supply chain, the program ensures that both producers and consumers benefitโ€”producers receive fair value for their products, and consumers gain access to reasonably priced basic commodities.
Let us continue to support this initiative and uplift our local industries by choosing and promoting .

The activity benefitted ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฌ ๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ณ๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐˜€ from Barangay Manika and nearby barangays. Each beneficiary received a school bag, school supplies, and a hygiene kit, while parents were provided with relief goods aimed at augmenting their household needs. These interventions reflect DOLEโ€™s commitment not only to addressing the immediate vulnerabilities of child laborers but also to reinforcing a community-wide responsibility to uphold childrenโ€™s rights and welfare.

Project Angel Tree forms a key component of the ๐—–๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—˜๐—น๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—บ (๐—–๐—Ÿ๐—ฃ๐—˜๐—ฃ), a flagship program of DOLE that seeks to eradicate child labor through integrated, community-driven approaches. Beyond the distribution of goods, the program is designed to:

๐Ÿ“Œ Promote education and prevent child labor by encouraging children to stay in school;
๐Ÿ“Œ Provide family support through livelihood opportunities, employment facilitation, and linkages with government and private partners;
๐Ÿ“Œ Raise awareness on childrenโ€™s rights, safe environments, and protection from all forms of abuse and exploitation;
๐Ÿ“Œ Mobilize stakeholdersโ€”referred to as โ€œangelsโ€โ€”who contribute resources, services, and expertise to advance the vision of a child labor-free Philippines.

By bringing partners, parents, and children together in one venue, the Project Angel Tree activity served as a platform to reiterate the importance of shared governance, where government institutions, private entities, and communities collaborate to eliminate child labor at its roots.

The November activity in Libacao is part of a broader year-long campaign to combat child labor in Aklan. Earlier, on ๐—๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐Ÿญ๐Ÿฎ, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฑ, DOLE Aklan, in partnership with ๐—Ÿ๐—š๐—จ ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—ผ and ๐—๐—–๐—œ ๐—”๐—ธ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ผ, organized the ๐˜ฝ๐™–๐™ฎ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ž ๐™๐™ช๐™ฃ: ๐™๐™ช๐™ฃ ๐™‡๐™ž๐™ ๐™š ๐™– ๐™ƒ๐™š๐™ง๐™ค ๐™›๐™ค๐™ง ๐™– ๐˜พ๐™๐™ž๐™ก๐™™ ๐™‡๐™–๐™—๐™ค๐™ง-๐™๐™ง๐™š๐™š ๐˜ผ๐™ ๐™ก๐™–๐™ฃ in celebration of the ๐—ช๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐——๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐—”๐—ด๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜€๐˜ ๐—–๐—ต๐—ถ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ฟ.

This event served both as a fundraising activity and an advocacy platform, generating community engagement and awareness about the realities faced by child laborers. Proceeds from the run supported the โ€œ๐—•๐—ฎ๐—ด๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—นโ€ campaign, which has since benefited children in Kalibo, Banga, and now Libacao by providing essential school supplies and hygiene kitsโ€”critical tools that help them stay in school and away from hazardous work.

The fight against child labor cannot be carried out by government alone. The success of Project Angel Tree and its related campaigns is made possible through the strong and consistent involvement of partners and sponsors who contribute time, resources, and expertise.
