LOOK: Amid the September 4 armed encounter between government troops of the 94th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, and a non-state armed group in Sitio Balao, Barangay Carol-an, the City Government of Kabankalan, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), quickly extended help to affected families, ensuring their safety and immediate needs were addressed.

But beyond the aid and relief efforts, what truly stood out was an act of kindness and resilience. Kagawad Jeolina Largado, daughter of IP Commissioner Munoy Largado, together with her fellow council members, reached out to the children in the evacuation area by sharing simple yet powerful stories. These moments of storytelling became a refuge for the young ones, reminding them that even in times of fear and uncertainty, hope and courage can still take root.

Her gesture reflected more than just reading—it was about restoring a sense of normalcy and warmth to children whose lives had been disrupted by conflict. Through stories, she offered comfort, strength, and inspiration, planting seeds of resilience that the children can carry with them.

LISTEN: SP Joan Cagape. A better Kabankalan means smart, transparent, and sustainable solutions—not just billion-peso loans.

LISTEN: a voice of integrity on the ₱2B loan proposal. This 2B loan lacks transparency and has insufficient supporting documents. Clear and complete documentation is essential for accountability and trust. Questions must be answered before any approval is considered.

LOOK: When the ₱2-billion “Flood-Free Kabankalan” project was brought forward, many hoped it would finally bring lasting relief from flooding. But behind the promise was a loan that could weigh heavily on Kabankalanons for years to come.

In his manifestation, Mangao raised issues of heavy financial risks, lack of transparency, and incomplete documents related to the project. He also questioned the use of the ₱203.5 million in locally appropriated funds previously allocated for flood-control measures and called for a Commission on Audit (COA) review before pursuing any additional loan.

For Mangao, true public service means protecting people’s money and ensuring every project is transparent, just, and truly beneficial. “Ang matuod nga serbisyo publiko indi lang sa daku nga proyekto makita, kundi sa kaangay kag pagkamatarong sa paggamit sang kwarta sang tawo,” he added.

His stance underscores the growing demand for responsible governance in Kabankalan, as residents continue to call for flood-control solutions that are not only effective but also honest and sustainable.

Month of August: In a heartfelt celebration of identity and resilience, SP Jennelyn Largado-Sacadan, Indigenous People Mandatory Representative, led the commemoration of the 2025 International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples in Kabankalan City. With the theme, “Indigenous People and AI: Defending Rights, Shaping Futures,” the event became a living reminder that culture is not only our past—it is also our future.

Together with SDO Kabankalan, leaders, and the community, the celebration echoed a call for unity—nga ang pag-uswag sang syudad kag sang kalibutan kinahanglan may respeto kag pagpasidungog sa kultura sang aton mga katigulangan.

SP Largado-Sacadan shared a powerful reminder: as the world embraces Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern technology, dapat siguruhon naton nga ini nga pagbag-o magahatag sang kusog, indi magpalapaw, sang values kag identity sang Indigenous People.

LOOK: Hon.

Siling pa niya: “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.”

Bilang representante sang pamatan-on, ginpanindugan ni Hon.

LOOK: Dr. Marie Vic Anacan, Sangguniang Panlungsod Member of Kabankalan City, stands with wisdom and accountability. Her recent call to defer the approval of the proposed ₱2-billion flood-control loan is not a rejection of development, but a reminder that real progress is measured not by how quickly we act, but by how wisely we decide.

In her recent manifestation speech, Dr. Anacan respectfully called to defer the rushing of the proposed ₱2-billion flood-control loan—not to oppose progress, pero bangud ginapaminsar niya ang kaayuhan sang tanan, indi lang subong kundi tubtub sa palaabuton. Her words are not of opposition, but of care. Not of delay, but of discernment.

She reminds us all that public service is not about chasing grand projects for applause; it is about ensuring that every action leaves a legacy of integrity. By calling for clearer plans and responsible implementation, Dr. Anacan is simply doing what every public servant must: putting the people first.

Dr. Anacan spoke not by mere fancy words, but with heart of wisdom, and integrity. What makes her stand resonate so deeply is her foresight. She speaks not only for today’s citizens, but for the generations to come. She believes that what we build today should not burden the future with debt, but bless it with hope and good governance.
