The Basilan National High School (BNHS) Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) received the highest recognition as the Most Outstanding Program in the institution.

The awarding was held during the Junior High School (JHS) Recognition Day at the BNHS gymnasium on March 27.

Institutional Scout Coordinator Christianvil T. Garcia accepted the award and expressed that the recognition is not a one-man achievement but a result of “bayanihan” and unity among scouts, scout leaders, the school administration, and stakeholders.

“This serves as a reward and motivation to continuously do good and to do more. It is not just about the organization on campus, but about all members of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines who uphold the Scout Oath and Law,” Garcia said in an interview after the awarding ceremony.

Garcia also thanked Council Scout Executive (CSE) Mark H. Delos Reyes, a Wood Badge holder, for guiding and supporting BNHS in its scouting endeavors.

The BNHS-BSP shared the stage with its co-awardees: Science Mother Club and the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG).

For the second straight time, RSR Sct. Sheran C. Kalbi will represent the Basilan Council in the National Scout Youth Forum, once again bringing the voice of Basileño scouts to the national stage.

Sct. Kalbi will join fellow Regional Scout Representatives (RSRs) from the Western Mindanao Region in the forum set on April 14–17 in San Antonio, Roxas City, Capiz Province. The event will be hosted by the Capiz Council in coordination with the Western Visayas Regional Coordinating Committee of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.

The National Scout Youth Forum gathers young brilliant scouts from across the country to discuss youth concerns, share ideas, and strengthen leadership within the movement.

The Senior Scouts of Basilan National High School successfully organized a Free Iftar for our Muslim brothers and sisters at the Cabunbata Mosque, Brgy. Cabunbata. This meaningful initiative was spearheaded by the dedicated scouts of BNHS under the guidance of Institutional Scout Coordinator Mr. Christianvil T. Garcia and Scout Leader Ms. Julienne Izabel B. Garcia.

The activity was led by Senior Crew Leaders Rayhan D. Ajal, Aiyessa Jesel Gasoh, Miel Handang, and Norina Mammah, who took the lead in preparing and cooking the food for Iftar alongside fellow scouts. It was truly a collective effort, reflecting the spirit of service and unity among scout-volunteers.

We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the supportive BNHS Principal, Dr. Arnel B. Hajan, for allowing and encouraging initiatives like this. Our sincere thanks as well to all scouts and scout leaders who generously contributed funds to make this activity possible.

Special appreciation goes to Scout Ashraf Abduho for voluntarily assisting in fetching and safely bringing home some of the scouts.
Indeed, this initiative was a great success—made possible through teamwork, compassion, and a shared commitment to serve the community.
