Basilan Medical Center proudly marks a significant milestone in its continued commitment to quality healthcareโwhile expanding its capacity to serve patients in need of specialized rehabilitation. ๐
On April 21, 2026, PhilHealth conducted a Pre-Contracting Survey for initial accreditation, assessing key hospital services such as the Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) Management Program, Physical and Medical Rehabilitation Services for assistive mobility devices, Oral Health Care Services, as well as Gamot (Outpatient Drug Benefit Program) and Yakap support services.
Following a thorough evaluation, all assessed services successfully passed the accreditation. Notably, the Physical and Medical Rehabilitation Services for assistive mobility devices was granted accreditation under the Z-Benefit (Z-Ben) Packageโa PhilHealth program designed to provide financial risk protection for patients who require specialized and often high-cost medical care, significantly reducing out-of-pocket expenses.
With this development, Basilan Medical Center is now fully equipped to provide comprehensive rehabilitation services to patients in Basilan. This includes individuals recovering from stroke, traumatic injuries, orthopedic conditions, post-surgical cases, and those with mobility limitations or physical disabilities who require assistive devices and structured therapy to regain function and independence.
This achievement makes Basilan Medical Center the first accredited Z-Benefit provider in Basilan for rehabilitation services, bringing life-changing care closer to the community.
The hospital extends its sincere appreciation to the PhilHealth assessment team, led by Dr. Ruby M. Minalang, Head of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Section (AQAS), together with representatives from the Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO) Basilan and AQAS, for their guidance and support throughout the process.
Dr. Sitti Nurussamsi Amilasan reaffirmed the hospitalโs strong partnership with PhilHealth and expressed optimism in expanding more Z-Benefit services in the future to better serve the people of Basilan.
This milestone highlights Basilan Medical Centerโs unwavering dedication to delivering accessible, high-quality, and patient-centered care - helping every Basileno move toward recovery and a better quality of life. ๐
