๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ I The 2025 Division Journalympics Elimination Round drew 4,664 participants from both the elementary and secondary levels, reflecting that the spirit of campus journalism is thriving in SDO-Isabela.
Data show a balanced turnout between the two levels, with 2,237 contestants from the Elementary Division and 2,427 from the Secondary Division. This indicates nearly equal engagement, with secondary entries slightly higher by 190 participants.
Among the nine contested categories, Editorial Cartooning emerged as the most popular with 566 total contestants, followed by News Writing (544) and Feature Writing (539). The Copyediting and Headline Writing (CEHW) category also registered strong participation with 538.
Meanwhile, Photojournalism proved the least entered category with only 429 participants, both at the elementary and secondary levels, suggesting the need to further promote and strengthen interest in this technical field.
In terms of language medium, contestants showed a slight preference for Filipino entries in both levels. At the Elementary Division, 1,130 entries were in Filipino compared to 1,107 in English. Similarly, the Secondary Division recorded 1,272 entries in Filipino against 1,155 in English, indicating consistent leanings toward the national language in campus journalism activities.
Overall, the results highlight strong engagement and balanced representation across levels and languages.
While writing and creative categories continue to dominate in popularity, Photojournalism remains a potential growth area for campus journalism development.

JUST IN | Planas Integrated School (Junior High School) today officially launched the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) program, aligning with the national initiative of the Department of Education to support learners with proficiency gaps. The launch event was followed by a General ParentsโTeachers Association (GPTA) meeting during which a new โcard systemโ was introduced as part of the schoolโs effort to strengthen student accountability and performance tracking.
At 8:00 AM in the school gymnasium, Principal Reynaldo Andres formally opened the ARAL Program, welcoming Junior High students, teachers, and parents. The ARAL initiative aims to address learning loss exacerbated by recent disruptions, particularly in reading, mathematics, and related foundational skills.
Drawing from DepEdโs Memorandum No. 64 and the teaching of the ARALโProgram Act (RA 12028), the school will roll out structured, learnerโcentered, and targeted interventions.
According to Teacher Margie Gupuchon of ARAL coordinator the first phase will focus on Grade 7/8 level working through assessments to identify students who fall below expected proficiency in reading and numeracy. Supplemental tutorials, remedial classes, and structured feedback will form part of the approach. Teachers have undergone orientation and training in recent weeks to prepare for this program.
