8th and 9th Training Day Overview — SLSU Infanta ROTC Unit

On 19 September 2026, the Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) Infanta ROTC Unit successfully conducted its 8th and 9th Training Days under the leadership of 2LT MARDEL D RODRIGUEZA PA (RES), ROTC Assistant Commandant.

The day commenced with the proper formation of cadets led by C/LTC JAMILL C MARBEDA, Battalion Commander. With the participation of Advance Cadet Officers, composed of thirteen (13) First Class Cadets and seven (7) Second Class Cadets. The activity was supervised by Msg OLIVER S COMISO PA (RES), Operations NCO/Instructor, ensured that everyone followed proper discipline, order, and procedures.

After polishing the area, 1LT NECKO M VILLACORTA (FS) PA who conducted lecture on West Philippine Sea Awareness, emphasizing the importance of increasing the knowledge and awareness of all cadets and cadettes regarding the West Philippine Sea, including its significance to the country’s national security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. Then the session was ended around 1140H attendance was checked, and the morning activity concluded at 1200H.


At 1300H, the ROTC unit of SLSU Infanta successfully conducted its ninth training day. It commenced with formation, checking of attendance, and accounting of troops. Then Cadets and Cadettes proceeded to the SLSU Administration Building for a lecture on Basic Survival led by Msg OLIVER S COMISO PA (RES). The topic was discussed and summarized, ended at about 1645H. After a final attendance check, everyone was dismissed at exactly 1700H.


These training days further solidified the cadets’ knowledge, discipline, confidence, and leadership potential. Through sustained instruction and practice, the SLSU Infanta ROTC Unit remains steadfast in forming capable, disciplined, and responsible leaders.

On 16 September 2026, the SLSU Infanta ROTC Unit participate in a clean‑up drive at Binulasan Port in Brgy. Binulasan Infanta Quezon, from 0700H to 1200H. The activity was carried out under the guidance of 2LT MARDEL D RODRIGUEZA PA (RES), Asst Commandant, and led by C/LTC JAMILL C MARBEDA, Battalion Commander. A total of 27 personnel actively participated composed of eleven (11) 1st Class Officers, seven (7) 2nd Class Officers, and nine (9) COCC cadets.

Following a brief orientation, the team was divided into groups to collect plastic waste, fishing debris, and litter along the shoreline and port area. Equipped with gloves, sacks, and cleaning tools provided by the local community, the cadets systematically gathered scattered waste including plastic bottles, food wrappers, fishing debris, and other non‑biodegradable materials found along the shore, docking area, and nearby pathways. By 1200H, the entire area had been thoroughly cleaned, and all waste was properly segregated for disposal.

The activity demonstrated teamwork, discipline, and commitment to environmental service. It concluded with a message of appreciation to all participants for their hard work and dedication.

The successful conduct of the 47th National Reservist Week was successfully celebrated at Southern Luzon State University on September 12, 2026– Infanta Campus, where the reservists of the 1st Quezon Cavalry 404RRBn, along with the students and other personnel, participated in an activity which served as a means to pay tribute to the dedication, patriotism, and essential contributions made by the Philippine Reserve Force.

The activity began with the registration of all the participants starting at 0700H, followed by the conduct of a virtual assembly which was composed of different Community Defense Centers (CDCs). The virtual assembly offered the participating units and personnel in different CDCs to gather in one place to strengthen communication and coordination among themselves in order to emphasize the crucial contribution of the Reserve Force to the nation’s security and defense, as well as its welfare.

What makes this event more significant is the active participation of the reservists of the 1st Quezon Cavalry 404RRBn. Through this activity, the active participation of the reservists clearly depicted their dedication, discipline, leadership, and readiness, which is the true representation of the Reserve Force as a reliable partner in nation-building and peace and order.

On 05 September 2026, the SLSU Infanta ROTC Unit successfully conducted both its Sixth and Seventh Training Days. Commenced at 0800H, the morning session began with preliminary activities, formation, attendance checking, and troop accounting led by the ROTC Officers; at 0830H, cadets proceeded to designated areas for polishing, which concluded at 0915H, followed immediately by the administration of the Preliminary Examination. From 1140H to 1150H, test papers were checked and attendance was verified, and the morning session formally ended at 1200H.

The afternoon session commenced at 1300H with standard preliminary activities also led by the ROTC Officers, after which at 1330H, all cadets and cadettes gathered at the SLSU Social Hall for a lecture on Interior Guard Duty led by Msg Oliver S. Comiso PA (Res); the lecture concluded at 1600H with a summarization of the topic, ending at 1645H. Attendance was verified by the ROTC Officers at 1645H, and the unit was officially dismissed at exactly 1700H.
