Carlo Biado Bags Major PSA Award, Cements Legacy in Billiards

The Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) recently honored the country’s top athletes, and billiards icon Carlo Biado emerged as one of the night’s brightest stars. Biado was named a Major Awardee, sharing the prestigious recognition with fellow billiards legend Rubilen "Bingkay" Amit , a testament to the dominance of Filipino cue artists on the world stage.

Adding to the celebration, Johann Chua and Albert James Manas —Biado’s teammates—received Citation Awards for their outstanding contributions to the sport, further showcasing the depth of talent in Philippine billiards.

Biado’s 2024 season was nothing short of extraordinary, with monumental victories in the World 10-Ball Championship, the Chinese Taipei Open Championship, and the Ho Chi Minh Open. These titles not only solidified his status as a world-class cue artist but also brought pride to the Philippines.

“This recognition is not just for me, but for every Filipino who has supported us along the way,” Biado said. “2024 was a year of hard work and success, and I’m ready to grind even harder in 2025.”

The achievements of Biado and his peers serve as an inspiration for aspiring athletes and a reminder of the Philippines’ prowess in the global billiards scene.
