Rapid Rescue Gumaca Volunteers (CPR-RIMT) was invited to share their knowledge and expertise in Disaster Preparedness by the Southern Luzon State University's student government body. Students eagerly participated to the short knowledge sharing program that discussed the common types of disasters such as but not limited to: typhoons, fires, earthquakes, and flooding, which is commonly experienced in Gumaca and neighboring municipalities.
The participants were also taught how to create their own GO-bag and what should they do before, during, and after a disaster.
We are thankful for Southern Luzon State University Gumaca Campus for the recognition and trust given to us. โค๏ธ

November 18, 2024 | Brgy. Cawayan Gumaca, Quezon ๐
Barangay Cawayan, one of the outermost barangays of Gumaca, Quezon, faces significant challenges in immediate transport and emergency response due to its harsh, dangerous terrain and considerable distance from the nearest medical facilities. Navigating this area requires specialized vehicles such as 4x4s and high-powered transports to ensure safe passage.
Despite these obstacles, our team embarked on the journey early, braving the difficult conditions to reach the community safely. Upon arrival, we immediately initiated the First Aid and Basic Life Support Knowledge Sharing session as requested by the Sangguniang Barangay of Cawayan.
The activity brought together Barangay Officials, Health Workers, Tanods, citizens, teachers, and members of the Philippine Army, all of whom actively participated and successfully demonstrated their newly acquired skills. The participants expressed their gratitude, emphasizing how much they needed this training to gain the essential know-how for providing immediate first aid and basic life support in emergencies.
This collaborative effort not only enhanced the community's preparedness but also underscored the importance of empowering local responders. We are proud to have been part of this initiative and look forward to continuing to serve and support communities in need.
