Technology is the use of scientific knowledge, experienceand resources to create processes and products that fulfillhuman needs. Technology is vital in communication.

WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY ADDICTION?

Technology addiction (also called Internet addiction, or Internet use disorder, among other names) is a broad term used to describe any obsessive tech-related behavior, be that gaming, online shopping, social media use, video watching, or anything else involving digital technology.

Tech addiction doesn’t have to be clinically classified as an addiction to be a serious problem, however. Along with comparing this issue to “DIGITAL COCAINE,” some have linked increased screen time to a rise in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), adolescent anxiety, depression and su***de risk factors.

Thier lack of emotional support means they turn to the
internet to fill this need..There are also those who have a history of other types of addiction such as addictions of alcohol ,drugs ,s*x and gambling .Even bieng stressed and unhappy can contribute greatly to the development of a computer or internet addiction

What is are the effects of technology addiction?

Body aches,Carpal tunnel syndrome , insomnia,vision problems ,and weigt gain/loss are just some of the physical problems one may suffer as a result of an internet addiction . Emotional effects may include depression , anxiety,social isolation , aggression ,and mood swing.

HOW TO PREVENT TECHNOLOGICAL ADDICTION TO KIDS:

1 .Limit the use of TV, computers and mobile devices to a maximum of 30 minutes at a time. Ensure the total amount of screen time per day doesn’t exceed the age-group recommendations.
2. Schedule an appropriate time for using the device, and plan fun physical activities for your child to engage in at other times.
3. Refrain from putting TV andelectronic gadgets in your child’s bedroom, and put away such devices after use.
4. Observe ‘tech-free’ times such as during meals, homework and bedtime. In addition, you can designate ‘tech-free’ zones for your child such as in the bedroom, dining area and in the car.
4. Teach your child early about the importance of moderation. Be sure to offer praise when your child demonstrates restraint in the use of y
tech devices and follows the rules you’ve set.
6. Monitor access by using the device together with your child. Take this opportunity to communicate, interact and share family values.
