🌿 PAGHINUMDOM SA KAGIKANAN, PAGPAMATI SA ATO KATIGUYANGAN 🌿
In a rapidly changing world, the voices of our elders remain among our greatest treasures.
They carry memories of old Siargao, stories of resilience, traditions passed through generations, and lessons shaped by a lifetime of experience.
Join us as we gather to listen, learn, and honor the wisdom of our elders. Through their stories, we strengthen our connection to our culture, our community, and the memory of this island we call home.

Together, let us keep these stories alive for future generations. ♥️
From SIPA – Siargao Island Peoples Association 🌿
There are moments when we find ourselves remembering the Siargao of old.
A time when communities were closely connected, when neighbors knew one another by name, and when children grew up surrounded not only by their families, but by an entire community that helped guide and care for them.
We remember the stories shared by our elders, the traditions passed from one generation to the next, the simple gatherings, the spirit of bayanihan, and the deep connection between our people, culture, and land.
These photos were shown during Isla Sonata , and many of us couldn’t help but feel emotional. They brought back memories of the old Siargao and the community life we grew up with.
Today, Siargao continues to change and develop. While growth brings new opportunities, it also reminds us of the importance of protecting the values that have always defined our island: community, respect, identity, and care for one another.
As an organization, SIPA believes that development should not come at the cost of forgetting who we are. The voices of our elders, the memories of our communities, and the knowledge carried through generations remain an important part of Siargao’s story.
By remembering the past, we help guide the future.
May we continue creating spaces where generations can learn from one another, where culture is valued, and where the spirit of community remains strong despite the many changes around us.
For the future of Siargao is not only about what we build, but also about what we choose to preserve.
Honoring our roots. Strengthening our future.

Care begins when we listen deeply to the realities of our communities.
SIPA Community was honored to take part in the Workshop on the Development of the Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) Plan and Materials for Community-Based Mental Health (CBMH) in Manila.
Through the collaboration Project Ka-ginhawa, the Department of Health (Philippines) and local stakeholders, this initiative aims to promote mental health awareness and strengthen community-based mental health services across the country.
The workshop focused on developing a **three-year SBCC plan** that is evidence-based, culturally sensitive, inclusive, and responsive to the real needs of communities.
For SIPA, this work is deeply aligned with our advocacy. Mental health is connected to culture, family, identity, accessibility, community care, and the lived experiences of our people.
We are grateful to be part of a space that values the meaningful participation of different sectors — including students, Lumad and indigenous communities, persons with disabilities, persons with lived experience, families, LGU representatives, Barangay Health Workers, health advocates, grassroots implementers, and local stakeholders.
As we carry this learning home to Siargao, SIPA Community hopes to help bring mental health conversations closer to our communities — with compassion, dignity, inclusion, and deep respect for every voice.
Honoring our roots. Strengthening our communities. Caring for the mind, heart, and spirit. 🌺

Marajaw na adlaw 💚
The Siargao Island Peoples Association, Inc. is honored to support and stand with initiatives like Digital Lumad Talk through Digital Nomad Association Philippines — creating spaces where community voices, local stories, culture, and modern opportunities can meet together. 🌺
We believe that empowering communities starts by helping people believe that their ideas, skills, identity, and dreams matter.
Through conversations like this, we hope to encourage more Lumad youth, island communities, and local individuals to explore digital opportunities, technology, creativity, and education while still staying grounded in who we are and where we come from.
Our culture and roots are not barriers to growth, they are strengths we carry into the future. 🌱
Padajon kita sa pagtuo sa ato kaugalingon, sa ato komunidad, sa ato kakayahan na makahimo ta mas marajaw pa para sa ato kaugmaon.
Salamat sab karajaw Siargao Nomad Academy for holding us in your space.

Today, .workspace gathered local community kids for a Poster Making Arts Workshop hosted by Lumad teacher and our very own SIPA founding member, . 🎨🌿
Through art, colors, and storytelling, the children were encouraged to express their voices, imagination, and connection to community and culture.
Small gatherings like this remind us how creativity can become a space for confidence, learning, and belonging for our youth. 💚
Marajaw na adlaw to everyone who continues to create spaces where children can learn, imagine, and express freely.
