The Earth is more than just the place we live in. It is the home we all share.

This World Environment Day, let us be reminded that caring for the environment starts with the choices we make every day. Whether itโ€™s reducing waste, conserving resources, or simply being more mindful of our surroundings, every small action contributes to a healthier and more sustainable future.

May we continue to protect and preserve our planet, not only for ourselves but for the generations that will come after us.

This month, we celebrate the courage, resilience, and authenticity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Pride is more than a celebration. It is a reminder of the ongoing journey toward equality, acceptance, and the freedom to live and love without fear.

As we honor the voices, stories, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals, may we continue to build spaces where everyone feels seen, respected, and valued for who they are.

Together, let us stand in promoting understanding, inclusion, and love in all its forms.

Happy Pride Month! ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

CELA kicks off first research colloquium, strengthens AdU research culture

The Adamson University College of Education and Liberal Arts (CELA) hosted its first research colloquium, with the theme "Transformative Ideas, Better Communities," last May 26 at the CS Institutional Gallery.

This colloquium aimed to align the contributions of the institution's major colleges with its research initiatives and to reinforce the universityโ€™s research culture through academic discussions and research presentations.

The event featured six undergraduate groups, two graduate students, and two faculty researchers from CELA who showcased research papers completed in the second semester of Academic Year 2025-2026.

Representing the Media and Communication Department were Richard Joshua Francisco, Shannel Llave, and EJ Policar, who presented their study titled โ€œMuscle, Media, and Masculinity: A Mixed-Methods Study of Instagram Posts and Captions of Spornosexuals in Taft, Manila.โ€ They were followed by Gavin Arceo, David Foenander, and Wendell Manalo, who presented โ€œExploring the Influence of Haikyu!! on the Careers of the UAAP Senior Volleyball Athletes.โ€

From the Social Science Department, Billbrian Ortego, Abatonon, Rohaneeh Adlaon, Betty Garcia, Jennifer Japon, and Princess Joy, showcased their research, โ€œGovernance versus Memory: A Phenomenological Study on Private Ancestral House Owners Amid Urban Redevelopment in Manila.โ€ Meanwhile, Ariana Wycoco, Aliyia Medallo, and Joshua Datalaray shared their study titled โ€œAn Agroecological Inquiry on the Indigenous Agricultural Practices of Aetas in Botolan, Zambales: Input to Sustainable Agricultural Governance Policy Framework.โ€

The Education Department was represented by Lady Cruz, Andrea Pahayahay, John Mark Tupig, and Ventjustine Gallarte, who introduced their research โ€œExploring the Engagement of Gen-X in Cardio-Based Dance: Basis for a Proposed Training Program.โ€ They were followed by Melliton Manansala, Alfer Navales, and Jhon Michael Anggolin, who discussed their study, โ€œDetermining Mood States as Predictors of Psychological Readiness: A Basis for an Injury Recovery Program for Student Athletes.โ€

Graduate School researchers also took part in the colloquium. Hersilyn M. The first faculty presenter, Mr. Aldren Lim, discussed โ€œShivers on Stage, Spotlight Dimmed: Factors Influencing Public Speaking Anxiety Among First-Year College Students.โ€ Next to present was Mr. Dexter C. Dulay, with his research โ€œEmerging Hybrid Pedagogical Framework from Gay Gendered Performance and Psychological Defense Mechanisms in Lamyos.โ€

As the student and faculty researchers presented their studies, they were evaluated by panelists composed of faculty members from CELA departments who provided feedback after each presentation.

Student presenters from the Social Science department won the Best Presentation award with their study, โ€œGovernance versus Memory: A Phenomenological Study on Private Ancestral House Owners Amid Urban Redevelopment in Manila." Faculty presenter Mr. Aldren Lim also received the same award for his research, โ€œShivers On Stage, Spotlight Dimmed: Factors Influencing Public Speaking Anxiety Among First Year College

Acting CELA Dean Fr. Rock Enriquez, C.M., stressed that the colloquium reflects the institution's ongoing efforts to strengthen interest in research among students and the whole Adamson community.

"Here at Adamson University, we are trying to create a culture of research, and creating a culture of research should start from the students, professors, and hopefully for the whole institution," Fr. Rock said.

He also shared that he plans to establish the CELA research colloquium as an annual event to further foster a research-oriented environment within the institution.

โ€œThis is an activity that we will do every year. It's just a start, but we hope to be better each year," Fr. Rock added.
