The raft style bonsai (known as Ikadabuki in Japanese) mimics a remarkable natural phenomenon: a tree is blown over by strong winds, but instead of dying, its remaining roots keep it alive. Over time, new roots grow from the buried trunk, and the branches facing upward grow straight up to become a collection of new, individual trees connected by a single base. 🌱
