Undeserved Favor Ministry Nowness of God

𝐈𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.

I often thank God for the things I receive, experience, and obtain. This is good and godly. However, Paul’s instruction is to give thanks in everything, not for everything (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Understanding this difference is important for believers.

When we say “for everything,” our gratitude is directed toward the things or situations. But this becomes difficult during challenges, bad news, or painful experiences. If our gratitude is anchored only in what we receive or go through, we will struggle to remain thankful in hard times. Even if we try to thank God, it can feel like a painful sacrifice.

But when Paul says “in everything,” he shifts our focus. We are not necessarily thankful for the situation, but we are thankful for who God is, His faithfulness, and His goodness in everything. This means our gratitude is anchored on a firm and unchanging foundation.

With this perspective, we can maintain a grateful heart in every season. Whether it is a time to weep or to laugh, to be born or to die, to mourn or to dance, to tear or to mend, in times of war or peace — we can still thank God with genuine joy in our hearts.

Because in every season, HE IS GOOD.
