In the world of Scouting, much is said about loyalty, service, and unity. We wear our uniforms with pride, recite the Scout Oath with honor, and memorize the 12 points of the Scout Law by heart. But amid the campfires, gatherings, and echoing yells of “Scouts ready!”, there’s a quiet question we must ask ourselves: Are we truly living the values we represent—or have we started wearing them only as a badge of convenience?

In the world of Scouting, the neckerchief is more than just a piece of cloth. It is a symbol of service, friendship, and unity. However, in the rush of activities, campfires, badges, and ceremonies, one must pause and reflect: Are we truly living the spirit of brotherhood, or are we simply wearing the neckerchief as a decoration?

Brotherhood is not defined by the uniform we wear or the oath and slogans we recite. It is measured by our actions, our respect for others, and our willingness to extend a helping hand, even when no one is watching. The Scout Law teaches us to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, and, most important of all, reverent. These are not mere words to memorize but guides for how we should live each day.

It is easy to wear the neckerchief and look the part. But the true test of goodwill lies in how we treat our fellow Scouts, our communities, and even strangers. Do we include and encourage others, or do we form circles and leave some behind? Do we offer support to those in need, or do we turn a blind eye when it is inconvenient?

Living the spirit of brotherhood means going beyond appearances. It means being sincere in our service, genuine in our friendships, and humble in our leadership. It means practicing what we promise when we raise our right hand in the Scout sign.

So, as we wear our neckerchiefs at the start of each gathering, let us ask ourselves: “Am I truly living the brotherhood I represent, or am I just wearing the symbol without living its meaning?”

Because in the end, Scouting is not about how sharp our uniform looks, but about how strong our values shine through our actions.

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines from Daanbantayan National High School proudly led the parade of colors during the 127th Philippine Independence Day celebration organized by the Local Government Unit of Daanbantayan.

Joining them were scouts from Malingin National High School, Tapilon National High School, Constancio P. Go Memorial Learning Center, Bright Minds Academy, and St. Isidore Child of Development Center Inc. The Girl Scouts of Daanbantayan National High School also took part in the historic event.

In recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication during the ceremony, Daanbantayan Mayor and 4th District Representative-elect Sun Shimura treated the scouts to a sumptuous lunch.

The active participation of the scouts was made possible through the efforts of Scout Master Dennis Arreglo, who coordinated with various schools to ensure their involvement in the celebration.

Sincere gratitude is extended to the Local Government Unit of Daanbantayan for the opportunity to be part of this meaningful event.

Truly, this experience deepened the scouts’ understanding of service and freedom. The celebration of the 127th Philippine Independence Day stands as a reminder that the sacrifices of our heroes were not in vain. The presence of the youth in such commemorations strengthens the movement to instill patriotism and love for country in the hearts of every Filipino—especially the younger generation.

With enthusiasm and unity, the Boy Scouts of Daanbantayan National High School marched into action during the Brigada Eskwela Kick-off on June 9, 2024.

Guided by the ever-dedicated Scout Master Dennis Arreglo, BSP Coordinator, they proudly embodied the spirit of service and teamwork.

𝙼𝚊𝚛𝚌𝚑 𝟷𝟹, 𝟸𝟶𝟸𝟻

In a show of preparedness and skill, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Tribu-Alpha, at Daanbantayan National High School took center stage during an earthquake drill simulation organized by the school's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) team.

The Tribu-Alpha scouts were called upon to serve as both 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 demonstrating their ability to act quickly and efficiently in the aftermath of a disaster. The drill was part of the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening disaster response across communities.

As the scouts simulated various emergency scenarios, they showcased their proficiency in applying first-aid and disaster response techniques, skills they have honed over time through rigorous training. Their participation not only provided hands-on experience but also reinforced the importance of being prepared for unforeseen calamities.

Through their involvement, the Tribu-Alpha scouts reaffirmed their commitment to helping others in times of crisis, ensuring that they are not only well-prepared but also capable of responding effectively when disaster strikes.
