Rest in peace, Peabo Bryson.💔

Peabo Bryson had a voice that came straight from Heaven.

Maybe that means he is now singing alongside the angels up there. 🪽

I’ll never forget meeting him and Regina Belle when they came to the 5th anniversary of on Broadway, and they surprised the entire theatre by singing A WHOLE NEW WORLD Live onstage after the show.

It happened to be the same day as my birthday.

So, immediately after performing as Jasmine in the historic 5th anniversary of the show, I got the biggest birthday surprise with THIS moment.

When Peabo and Regina heard it was my birthday, she took my hand in hers, and immediately started singing to me, in the stage right wings, backstage at the New Amsterdam Theatre. 🥹

I could barely hold it together!!!

I grew up listening to these iconic voices.

And I will never forget their warmth and kindness, and the blessing of getting to hear their beautiful and soulful voices sing to me on my birthday, while holding Regina’s hand. 💗

It’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to be part of the development of a new musical…. and it’s one of my favorite things to do.

Sitting together in a room at the INCEPTION of a story that will grow and live on.

Learning new musical notes on a page that have never been sung out loud.

Reading words of a script that changes daily…. words that have never been shared in public.

Crafting moments that build and release tension, carry you on a journey, and tell a story that shares a message of strength, hope, bravery, and love.

New musicals can take many years to see their first professional production. And to be here now, while it’s still a seed, before it grows into the jungle it will become… is magical and exciting and wonderful.

I feel beyond lucky to be working on this show with this incredible team for one short week!

Two presentations today!! Here we go! 🙏🏽

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there, in this realm and in heaven.

I’m so grateful that my mom is my biggest cheerleader, my friend, my guardian angel, and Wonder Woman.

I love you today and every day, and can’t wait to keep sharing time and adventures together!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Celebrating the Earth today and every day. 🌍🍃🌊

Singing this song… my favorite Disney song…. WITH the mountains and birds…
was something I will absolutely remember for the rest of my life.

When I was performing INTO THE WOODS in the Philippines last year, I got to explore the beautiful Palawan islands. 🌊🏝️🇵🇭

Then we discovered this mountain that had an insane echo… I knew I had to sing to it!

Turn Sound On.🔊

Sharing the stage with my husband last night at the Al Hirschfeld Theater on Broadway (for the “Broadway Dream Roles” event) was a dream come true.✨

Singing this particular duet, from Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George”, was so special for many reasons.

First- I love this song because it’s a reminder to myself and all artists to keep creating, to keep moving forward, to keep sharing your art…. No matter what.

Second- I love supporting because they provide help for millions of people that need it.

Third- Witnessing my husband shine on this glorious music… (and Act his face off!!! ) was…. Magical!

I can’t wait to share the full song with you all. Coming soon. 🤩

The lesson of the Swan. 🦢

To all of the artists aspiring to be a part of our beautiful Broadway industry - remember this:

Match your Elegance and your Grit in equal measure.

Not one and then the other.

Both at once.

The Lesson of the Swan.🦢

Thanks to my bro

For my whole life, the theatre has given me a home to express myself, explore other characters, tell stories, and connect with audiences around the world.

I believe that the theatre is sacred.

It heals us in ways we can’t explain.

It allows us to feel empathy and build compassion, courage, and connection.

The theatre has helped me understand myself and grow in ways I never anticipated.

I’m grateful for every story I get to tell.

Every role that lets me explore human connection, deep questions, tell stories of bravery and finding ourselves in the process of living.

Today is World Theatre Day, so….

To all theater-makers, I salute you!

To all theater-lovers, thank you for supporting live theater and coming along on each journey.
