The 2MLD Project continues with the evaluation of reservoir geometry options through detailed structural and foundation analysis.

This phase compares rectangular and cylindrical tank configurations, highlighting their structural behavior, load distribution, and foundation response under full water loading conditions. Critical stress zones and base pressure concentrations are carefully assessed to determine the most efficient, stable, and practical solution for the proposed reservoir system. From geometry to performance, every detail is engineered with resilience and reliability in mind.

Day 2 of MIDAS Training

Day 2 of the training series focused on MIDAS CIVIL NX, an advanced next-generation engineering software primarily used for the analysis and design of civil infrastructure structures such as bridges, elevated structures, transport systems, and other complex structural engineering projects.

This training further strengthens the technical capabilities of QB Engineers by integrating more advanced infrastructure engineering technologies and modern analytical tools into our existing engineering workflow. These advancements support our commitment to delivering safer, more efficient, economical, and technically optimized civil structure designs.

MIDAS CIVIL NX provides powerful analytical and modeling capabilities that allow engineers to simulate structural behavior under various loading conditions including vehicle loads, seismic forces, wind effects, temperature variations, construction staging, and other real-world conditions affecting infrastructure performance and safety. Through advanced modeling, simulation, and automated engineering workflows, the software helps engineers improve analytical accuracy, design efficiency, visualization, and overall project reliability.

The 2MLD Project

Parallel with the ongoing 3D modeling and engineering development of the project site are the Geotechnical Engineering field investigation works. Multiple boreholes, reaching depths of approximately 21 meters, were conducted to further improve the reliability and accuracy of the Geotechnical Data essential for the foundation design of the proposed reservoir and other auxiliary structures.

These subsurface investigation works provide critical information regarding soil stratification, bearing capacity, groundwater conditions, and the depth and quality of underlying rock formations. Such data are fundamental in evaluating site suitability and in developing safe, efficient, and technically optimized foundation systems.

Initial field observations and recovered samples indicate the presence of relatively shallow bedrock within the project site, suggesting favorable ground conditions for the proposed development. The collected field and laboratory data will be further evaluated and correlated as part of the detailed geotechnical assessment and foundation engineering process.

Through proper site investigation and engineering analysis, QB Engineers continues to ensure that every project is supported by accurate technical data and sound engineering judgment from the ground up.

As part of our continuous commitment to professional growth, technical excellence, and engineering innovation, QB Engineers is currently conducting an on-site hands-on training on MIDAS GTS NX and Civil NX, with the guidance and support of our colleagues from MIDAS IT Philippines, Manila.

Through this training, QB Engineers continues to strengthen and further enhance its existing capabilities in geotechnical and structural engineering by integrating more advanced simulation tools and modern engineering technologies into its workflow.

We sincerely thank our friends from MIDAS IT Philippines Manila team for visiting our office here in Bohol and sharing their technical expertise through this series of workshops.

MIDAS GTS NX is an advanced geotechnical engineering software used for complex soilโ€“structure interaction analysis and geotechnical simulations. The software is capable of performing slope stability analysis, excavation analysis, seepage analysis, settlement evaluation, retaining wall assessment, tunnel analysis, and foundation behavior simulations under various loading conditions.

Meanwhile, Civil NX enhances infrastructure and civil engineering workflows by integrating advanced analytical and modeling tools for more accurate and efficient engineering solutions.

The 2MLD Project - Part 2

From an initial 2D topographic survey, the project is now being transformed into a comprehensive 3D BIM Model โ€” the digital foundation of the proposed 2-million-liter water tank reservoir.

Developed to support the planning and design stages of the project, the model incorporates critical engineering information such as coordinates, elevations, and terrain geometry, serving as the baseline reference for the structural and geotechnical engineering works throughout the project development process.
