𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧 | 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 “𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀” 𝗯𝘆 𝗣𝗡𝗣 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

On May 27, 2026, the Official page of the PNP Cateel Municipal Police Station posted a list of “Active Wanted Persons” identifying student leaders from UP Mindanao and youth activists from different organizations in Southern Mindanao Region. The said posts have now been deleted.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 - 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. This spree of red-tagging and mislabeling the youth as “wanted” individuals heavily compromises their safety despite only practicing their right to voice out the ills amidst the ongoing national crisis brought by the Marcos - Duterte Administration.

This plight is no different from the scrutiny and attacks against campus journalists. In this time of crisis due to rising oil prices, the jeopardy brought by the recent senate ruckus, the ongoing delays in detaining warranted criminals, and holding corrupt officials accountable only strengthens the need for the community members to take their stance. As members of the press, it is vital to amplify the calls of the masses against corruption, state-sponsored attacks, and demanding accountability on issues that still persist to this day.

Criticism towards the government is not an attack, but a demand that needs to be addressed. When the masses and the media criticize, baselessly criminalizing them is not a solution.

𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘 | For the Quiet Love that Never Leaves

There are many kinds of love in this world: loud ones that announce themselves; fleeting ones that come and go; and rare ones that stay, even in silence. A mother’s love belongs to the last kind.
