PADRE DIEGO CHAPEL

A renovation project of an existing space inside a Catholic church located in a suburban area of Cebu City, Philippines. This mortuary chapel was born out of the desire and need of a space for wake or mourning of the deceased parishioners of San Pedro Calungsod Parish. Moreover, the chapel was also constructed in honor of the missionary life and contribution of Padre Diego to the Catholic community.

The interior of the chapel is straightforward and simple yet solemn and elegant. It is characterized by the juxtaposition of different elements mainly of bare concrete, marble stone cladding, fluted wood accent, plain white walls and porcelain tiled floor revealing a contrasting effect yet heartwarming ambiance. Furthermore, the presence of light forming a cross imposes hope to the bereaved family and a divine symbol of eternal afterlife of the deceased parishioner.

AS RESIDENCE : A TROPICAL CONTEMPORARY HAVEN

Steel, wood, concrete and green. AS Residence features a blend of tropical and contemporary inspired interiors mimicking the colors of its immediate surroundings. This humble and compact home breathes in harmony with nature through its open, simple, straightforward, and function- centered design approach. The open configuration of the house allows optimal cross ventilation and daylight pe*******on in every interior space thus saving more on electricity consumption during daytime. The interior spaces are also finished with low VOC paint for improved indoor air quality. Moreover, this haven maximizes the view of the nearby landscape, allowing the owner to relax after a stressful week of hustling.
