hanggang sa kami na mismo ang naging kapit ng isa’t-isa.

Nagsimula kami noong Abril 13, 2019;
mga pusong naghahanap ng tinig,
mga kaluluwang kumakapa sa dilim,
umaasang may liwanag na tutugon sa aming mga salita.
Sa bawat piyesa, sa bawat pagtatanghal,
unti-unti kaming nabuo:
hinulma ng oras, hinabi ng karanasan,
at pinagtibay ng mga kamay na sabay-sabay kumakapit.

Hindi naging tuwid ang landas.
May mga pagbitiw, may mga pagitan, may mga sandaling tila lumuluwag ang kapit.
Ngunit sa bawat pagdulas, mas lalo naming pinili ang kumapit;
ikapit ang pangarap sa dibdib,

Day 30 of 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐈𝐒 ✨

On this last day of 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵, we honor women who lead with heart, intellect and courage. What better way to end this to feature Alpas' adviser, 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐀. 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝, also known as 𝑴𝒔. 𝑩𝒆𝒃𝒆𝒕 𝑨𝒏𝒈. She is a published poet, researcher, devoted mother, and a dedicated public school teacher.

Her voice as a writer has reached beyond borders, with works published by 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐋𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 in Singapore, 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬, and 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 and other local publications. As a researcher, she has contributed to the growing body of knowledge in communication and education through publications in the 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲, 𝐏𝐂𝐂 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥, and international journals such as 𝐏𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬, and the 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 (𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒂).

Yet beyond her accolades lies her most powerful role, that of a mother who nurtures with compassion, resilience, and unwavering strength. In the classroom, she extends this same care as a public school teacher. She guides her students not only in academics but in life, embodying the true essence of malasakit and serbisyo.

A proud alumna of University of Santo Tomas, she earned her 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐒𝐋 from De La Salle University–Dasmariñas with 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒏𝒂 𝑪𝒖𝒎 𝑳𝒂𝒖𝒅𝒆). Today, she continues her journey of excellence taking up Doctor of Philosophy in Communication at Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Her story is a testament to the many roles women carry with grace, courage, and purpose. This Women’s Month, we celebrate her as a woman who shapes minds, nurtures lives, and inspires a generation.

𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬, widely known by her artist name 𝑵𝒊𝒌𝒊𝒕𝒂, is a multi-hyphenate creator whose journey is defined by the belief that art is a powerful tool for community building and advocacy. As the 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗽𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, she has successfully united artists from various disciplines, creating a home for creativity to flourish. Beyond her own collective, her influence resonates across different art groups in Cavite, championing the idea that art should always be a safe space for expression.

Known for her voice as much as her vision, Nikita is a talented writer and performance poet who also excels in painting, drawing, and singing. Her excellence isn't limited to the arts; she is a consistent honor student who balances academic rigors with her passion for public speaking. She uses her platform to speak up for vital advocacies, particularly women empowerment and the promotion of the arts as a sanctuary for all.

𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬, beyond the accolades, is celebrated for her jolly, outgoing, and kind personality, making her a beloved companion to those around her. She serves as a brilliant example of what one can achieve when they are "locked in" and genuinely fueled by love for their craft. The legacy of Nikita proves that leadership is about more than just titles — it's about using your talents to uplift others and standing firm in your convictions.

Day 28 of 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐈𝐒 ✨

𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐄𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬, also known as 𝑴𝒂𝒈𝒈𝒊𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔, was a Filipina intelligence officer during World War II due to her work of exchanging intelligence among resistance leaders, sourced medical supplies, acquired crucial information about the installations and dispositions from Manila to San Fernando, La Union, and also went to Bicol to gather technicians and radio parts.

She earned the name 𝑳𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑭𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒐 𝑮𝒖𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝑨𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 because the missions she carried out was said to be to be accomplished with grace and wile of a cat and cunning ingenuity of a fox. As a corporal in the Philippine Army, she continued gathering intelligence and became a part of the Medical Company and the Signal Corps towards the end of the war.

𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 contributed a lot to the country's early liberation due to her skills, awarding her the United States' third highest military decoration — the 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐥 — and making her the 𝗳𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Her contributions to the war — not just her work as a spy, teacher, medic, and fighter — are what makes her a true hero and daughter of the Philippines.

Day 27 of 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐈𝐒 ✨

𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐬 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐆𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐳-𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐨 started her journey through the ranks from being a nurse to becoming the commander of her military squad. Due to her father's tragic death under the hands of the Japanese forces, she became a part of the 𝐇𝐔𝐊𝐁𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐇𝐀𝐏 or the 𝑯𝒖𝒌𝒃𝒐 𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏 𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒂 𝑯𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒏, a guerilla movement that operated near Mount Arayat.

Her fellow guerilla soldiers gave her the name 𝑲𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑳𝒊𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒘𝒂𝒚, with the word 𝑳𝒊𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒘𝒂𝒚 signifying the dawn of a new era. During the 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢, her squad ignored orders to withdraw and bravely confronted the Japanese forces, ultimately driving them back. Following this crucial victory, Remedios Paraiso's reputation spread across neighboring provinces.

𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐨 tirelessly fought for the recognition of the Filipino resistance fighters as World War II veterans. She highlighted the important role of Filipino women in the war effort. The legacy of 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐰𝐚𝐲 proves that bravery knows no gender and that it is significant to fight not only for a cause but to also express one's true self.

Day 26 of 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐈𝐒 ✨

𝐆𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐝𝐞 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐨 — together with her husband, Eulalio Villavicencio — contributed a lot of their fortune and effort in support of the Philippine Revolution. They often let their home, the 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐨, as a refuge and a secret meeting place for Andres Bonifacio, Miguel Malvar, Felipe Calderon, and many more.

Being born in a wealthy family, Gliceria Marella also lent Dr. Jose Rizal the money he needed in order to publish his novels — 𝐍𝐨𝐥𝐢 𝐌𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐞 and 𝐄𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐨 — and supported the publication of 𝐋𝐚 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝 in Spain which is worth ₱18,000. In exchange, Juan Luna painted portraits of the couple, which have since become the most well-known image of Gliceria Marella following her passing in 1929.

𝐆𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 was given the title of 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚-𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐳𝐚𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐬 or the 𝑮𝒐𝒅𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓-𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒗𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒆𝒔 by General Emilio Aguinaldo at the declaration of the Philippine independence on June 12, 1898, recognizing the efforts and the huge portions of her contributions to the revolution.

Day 25 of 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐈𝐒 ✨

𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐳 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐬𝐨𝐧, coined as the 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑩𝒊𝒂𝒌-𝒏𝒂-𝑩𝒂𝒕𝒐 by General Emilio Aguinaldo, was a skilled eskrimadora and leader during the Philippine Revolution and the Philippine-American War. She commanded missions that effectively seized enemy weapons. On the battlefield, she dressed in men's attire, blending in seamlessly with her fellow soldiers.

In 1895, at the age of 47, Trinidad Tecson joined the women's chapter of Katipunan. When the Katipuneros lacked fi****ms, she lead a small group of revolutionaries to gather guns in Caloocan, Rizal and then in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija. Additionally, she was cited as the 𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔, recognizing her efforts and sacrifice in helping, feeding, and nursing for her fellow Katipuneros. She also became a part of General Gregorio del Pilar's forces and served as the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐚𝐫 in the Malolos Republic.

𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐬𝐨𝐧 is another example that women are also able to fight side-by-side with men and lead people to success. Even after being wounded in several battles, she showed the Filipinos how significant it is to recover and stand up again in order to return to the battlefield and continue the fight for the country's independence.

𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐨, famously known as 𝑴𝒆𝒍 𝑻𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒄𝒐 and sometimes referred to as 𝑻𝒊𝒕𝒂 𝑴𝒆𝒍, is a Filipina jounalist and newscaster. She's an 𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 24 𝐎𝐫𝐚𝐬, the 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐩𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐧, and the 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐌𝐀 𝐊𝐚𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐨 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Her career on GMA started way back 1996 until today, but before that, she first became one of the original news anchors of TV Patrol of ABS-CBN from 1987 to 1995.

On April 4, 2025, during the 27th Reader's Digest Trusted Brand Awards, Mel Tiangco was named as the 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐕 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐟𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭. Before achieving this award, she also received various awards such as the 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐫 on the 7th Gawad Lasallianeta on January 2025 and the 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 on the Babae Awards by WomenBizPH on March 2025.
