In the journey of supporting children on the autism spectrum, consistency plays a crucial role. It’s important to understand that progress is not an overnight process, but with patience and dedication, positive changes are absolutely achievable. Early intervention is particularly essential, as it helps set the foundation for success. With the right programs and a consistent approach, children on the spectrum can make meaningful progress and reach their full potential.

Here's what Mommy Kaye, Mom of a 5 year old AUsome boy has to say about The Playhouse. 💙

When I write about risky play I do not JUST focus on physical risky play, but also social, emotional and cognitive risks in both play and learning.
School and lessons are often much more fraught with harmful risks to children's mental health than free play and the early years (but of course free play in schools riddled with bias, hierarchy and a lack of autonomy and healthy relationships is probably going to be filled with risks too - and not the good kind).
When I write about risk taking in play it is a positive kind of risk - where the benefits far outweigh any maybe negative possibilities.
The maybe factor is important. To feel that thrill of excitement of succeeding or discovery etc.
But to feel brave about taking risks, of making mistakes and getting it wrong (which are vital parts of risk taking) we all have to feel safe and feel valued.
Inclusion is not that everyone feels good all the time and is about being happy - it is about being able to be your authentic self and to feel accepted and valued.
It is about a pedagogy of respect, consent and healthy relationships.
Listening is a vital part of this.
To be curious about others. To take time to find out. To reflect on how own actions affect others...
Joy is not a simple process of being happy - but the complex state of being that allows you to experience all emotions in a manner that each child can regulate enough to be able to be themselves and enjoy play and learning - rather than the emotions taking over and ruling in sometimes almost self destructive ways.
Self regulation is not about being calm, but about the child's energy matching the activity/play/learning engaged in.
I feel often schools and preschools focus too much on "everyone feeling good all the time" which ends up in rules that ban the very things children need to practice being inclusive, of the play that allows them to make mistakes and self regulate - resulting in schools where equity struggles to thrive.

Early intervention is the key!
A child who is assessed early and who gets early intervention early has better chances of narrowing the gap of delays. If you feel that your child needs help, send me an email or a pm. I'd be more than happy to assist you.

Talking to your baby and keeping them informed about your actions may seem simple, but it can have a profound impact on their development and connection with you. Respectful communication is at the heart of Magda Gerber’s Educaring Approach. By narrating your actions, you're creating a nurturing environment that promotes trust, language development, consent, predictability, and emotional connection.

"Different" is often life's most beautiful teacher. ❤️

A great reminder and insight that all children are individuals and will respond to the environment differently depending on their individual needs. Let’s be accommodating and inclusive. 💙
