In the quiet and peaceful life that Filipinos enjoy today, sacrifice and the fight against corruption became the price paid for it. Today, we honor the heroes who fought for the freedom of our society—heroes who did not only sacrifice for the country, but also set aside the peace of their own lives.

They could have lived quietly, but they chose to defend those who had no voice to speak for themselves. They chose to love the Philippines, even with its complicated and painful history of war and struggle. But heroes are not only those who fought with force to defend the Philippines, nor those who used their pens to awaken the minds of the people, nor those who used their intelligence to challenge those who opposed their beliefs.

Heroes are also the ordinary people who continue to fight for their families—the people who tirelessly work for the well-being of their loved ones, and the Filipino citizens who keep fighting despite hardships just to achieve a better future. They may not be known by many, but they are willing to sacrifice for their country, for their families, and for their own well-being.

As we mark August 21, we commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day, a special non-working holiday dedicated to honoring the memory of former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. on the 43rd anniversary of his death.

His words continue to remind us that every Filipino has the power to stand for truth, freedom, and a better future.

“The Filipino is worth dying for.”

May we honor his legacy not only through remembrance, but also through unity, courage, and love for our country.

BUWAN NG WIKA 2026🇵🇭

Hindi lamang salita ang wika. Ito ay salamin ng ating kasaysayan, kultura, at pagkakakilanlan. Ito ang tulay na nag-uugnay sa bawat Pilipino at nagsisilbing buhay na pamana ng ating mga ninuno.

Sa gitna ng patuloy na pag-unlad ng teknolohiya at paglaganap ng iba't ibang wika at kultura sa buong mundo, higit na mahalagang patuloy nating pahalagahan, gamitin, at pagyamanin ang wikang Filipino. Sapagkat ang bansang marunong magmahal sa sariling wika ay bansang may matatag na pagkakakilanlan, may dangal, may pagkakaisa at hindi basta nawawalan ng sariling tinig.

Sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika 2026, sama-sama nating ipagmalaki ang ating sariling wika, ang wikang nagbibigay-boses sa ating mga pangarap, nagpapalalim sa ating pagmamahal sa bayan, at nagbubuklod sa bawat Pilipino tungo sa isang mas matatag na kinabukasan.

Successful Conduct of the Test of Fundamental Academic Skills (TOFAS) at Cauayan City National High School

In compliance with Regional Memorandum No. 247, s. 2026, issued by the Department of Education Regional Office II, Cauayan City National High School successfully conducted the Test of Fundamental Academic Skills (TOFAS) last July 16, 2026 for 40 selected learners from Grades 7 to 10, with 10 examinees representing each grade level.

The TOFAS is a 40-minute, 60-item online assessment designed to measure learners' fundamental academic skills, particularly in Mathematics. It provides valuable diagnostic information that helps teachers and schools identify learners' strengths and areas needing intervention to improve learning outcomes. TOFAS is implemented by DepEd Regional Office II, through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD) and the Education Support Services Division (ESSD), in partnership with SPRIX Philippines Inc.

The successful conduct of the assessment reflects the commitment of CCNHS to supporting quality education through meaningful assessment and data-informed instruction. We extend our appreciation to our dedicated teachers, school administrators, and most especially to our student participants for their cooperation and enthusiasm.
