Mabuhay mga Manggagawang Pinoy!

Higit 76,000 na mga sundalo ang sumuko noon sa mga Hapon. 64,000 dito mga sundalong Filipino.

Ginutom at pinalakad hanggang Bataan, Sampung libong Pinoy at 650 na Amerikanong sundalo ang namatay. Pagkakataon na hindi na sila binalikan pa ng inaasahan nilang rescue at karagdagang pwersa mula sa kampo nina Douglas MacArthur.

Dahil sa dami at lakas ng Hapon, walang nagawa ang Commander ng 'Luzon Force, Bataan' na si Major General Edward P. King, Jr. kundi sumuko. Ang pagsukong ito ay simbolo ng pagsasailalim sa ating bansa sa pamamahala ng mga Hapon. Kagitingang pinaglaban nila ang bansa hanggang sa huli.

Taong 2012, ang Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Toshina Urabe ay humingi ng pormal kapatawaran sa lahat ng nagawa nilang masama at kasawian sa bansa. Kasunod nito ang pagbibigay ng Amerika ng 220 million dollars o 9 billion pesos sa higit 18,000 na Beteranong nabubuhay pa noon.
