Last Monday, April 20, 2026, the 𝟑𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 for the Civil Engineering students was held at the SSU Convention Center. Surrounded by parents and loved ones, this milestone—organized by the PICE SSU-SC Officers—served as a solemn vow to the future of the industry.

To our future Registered Civil Engineers: remember that in this profession, "pwede na" is never enough. As emphasized by our guest speaker, Engr. John Michael Boloc, thriving for quality means going beyond what is required. It requires a steadfast commitment to integrity—refusing shortcuts, corruption, or negligence, no matter how tempting the path may seem.

As you wear these pins and hard hats, carry the words of Engr. Felisa Gomba with you: move forward to build more than just physical structures. Build solutions that serve our communities and contribute meaningfully to our nation-building.

As the 𝟑𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆 for Civil Engineering students at Samar State University commences, a Thanksgiving Mass was held earlier today at the SSU Convention Center at 8:30 AM.

The event featured a solemn and intimate homily, followed by a special blessing of the pins and hard hats. This spiritual gathering was organized by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers - Samar State University Student Chapter (PICE SSU-SC).

This ceremony marks a significant milestone in the journey of our future engineers as they commit to the values and responsibilities of the profession.

The 3rd Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony marks a significant milestone in the journey of our aspiring Civil Engineers. This occasion highlights their perseverance, dedication, and readiness as they prepare to embark on their 𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

The program will begin with a Thanksgiving Mass at 8:30 AM, followed by the Official Ceremony at 1:00 PM.

SSU achieved a 𝟓𝟔.𝟔𝟎% overall passing rate, highlighted by a 𝟕𝟎.𝟕𝟑% success rate among first-time takers. Nationally, the passing rate stood at 𝟑𝟓.𝟎𝟓% (6,438 out of 18,370 examinees).

To our newly licensed engineers: Your relentless hard work and perseverance have led you to this incredible achievement. This milestone is a shared victory, bringing immense pride to Samar State University and the entire PICE SSU-SC family.

To those who challenged the exam: We admire your courage and resolve. Keep pushing forward; remember that progress is progress, no matter the pace—as long as you do not stop.

Today, we stand at the foot of the Cross. We remember the immense weight of the sacrifice made for our sake and the profound silence that followed. In this moment of sorrow, may we find the strength to carry our own crosses with grace and the humility to reflect on a love that knows no bounds.

Let us honor this day by seeking forgiveness, practicing mercy, and holding onto the hope that even in the darkest Friday, Sunday is coming.
