This coming June 2026, the Samar Provincial Library joins the nationwide celebration of National ICT Month, declared under Proclamation No. 1521 and supported by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) through Republic Act No. 10844.

In partnership with DICT and PESO, the library will conduct meaningful and educational activities aimed at promoting digital literacy, responsible technology use, and improved access to online government services.

With pride and patriotism, the Samar Provincial Library joins the nation in celebrating the National Flag Days from May 28 to June 12. 🇵🇭
This meaningful observance honors the Philippine flag — the enduring symbol of our freedom, unity, courage, and national identity. Through this celebration, we are reminded of the sacrifices of our heroes and the importance of nurturing patriotism and love for country among present and future generations.
May our flag continue to inspire every Filipino to stand united in service, respect, and hope for our beloved nation.

🤝 BOUND FOR SUCCESS! 🚀

​The Samar Provincial Library successfully conducted its two-day collaborative retreat, “Bound for Success: A Collaborative Retreat – Focus on Teamwork, Future Growth, and Strong Foundation,” last May 20–21, 2026, at the beautiful Burabod Spring Resort in Paranas, Samar.

​Centered on team building, leadership, and strategic planning, the retreat kicked off with an engaging training session facilitated by the dynamic Mr. Jhunlie E. Escala, PYESDO of the Provincial Youth, Education, and Sports Development Center.

​💡 Through his expert lecture on leadership and management, Samar Provincial Library employees participated in interactive exercises like the "Lost at Sea" challenge—honing their communication, collaboration, and critical problem-solving skills under pressure.

​Our goals for this retreat were clear:

✨ Strengthen Teamwork – Building deeper trust and mutual support.

✨ Lay a Strong Foundation – Re-aligning our team with the library's core values and the provincial government's mission.

✨ Plan for Future Growth – Brainstorming innovative library services and broader community outreach.

In relation to Mental Health Awareness Month, the Mental Health Film Showing was successfully conducted at the library for interested pupils who gathered to watch the movie titled “Kita Kita” on May 26, 2026. After the screening, Mr. Benedicto Reyes, the Activity In-Charge, facilitated a brief interactive discussion with the pupils, allowing them to share their insights and learn valuable lessons from the film. 😀

Participants in the Wellness Gardening Activity, conducted in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, had the opportunity to plant greenery along the library façade after the lecture on May 25 under the supervision of Mr. Benedicto Reyes, the Activity In-Charge. 🥰

The group of maniriti—gleaners of sisi, or small rock oysters—spend five to seven hours each day under the sweltering heat of the sun collecting sisi. Most of their harvest is fermented in sea salt and packaged in recycled bottles for sale, while the remainder serves as food for their families.

One of the first acts of Antonio Muñoz was to organize the local Revolutionary Forces. Don Guillermo Arteche, a native of Catbalogan, was appointed as Teniente de Infantería to oversee and carry out the organization of the forces.

During the activity, participants were introduced to different gardening tools and proper planting techniques.The activity aimed to promote mental well-being through gardening, an enjoyable and therapeutic practice that encourages relaxation and stress relief. 😊
