𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬.⚖️💜

In celebration of the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines – Northern Samar Chapter conducted a Legal Aid and Legal Education Activity in the island municipality of Biri, Northern Samar, home of the country’s renowned National Geological Monument. The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of the Local Government Unit of Biri.

The program focused on empowering women and families through discussions on important laws protecting their rights, including the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act (RA 11861), the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262), and the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313). Participants, particularly solo parents and women, were provided with practical legal knowledge to better understand their rights and available legal remedies.

Volunteer lawyers of IBP Northern Samar also rendered free legal consultation and notarial services to community members who sought legal assistance.

This initiative reflects IBP Northern Samar’s continuing commitment to promoting access to justice and legal empowerment even in geographically isolated communities. The activity also contributes to the advancement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).

Through legal education and outreach, IBP Northern Samar remains dedicated to strengthening communities by ensuring that the protection of the law reaches every sector of society.

The IBP Northern Samar Chapter advances 𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝟓 (𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲) 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐃𝐆 𝟏𝟔 (𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬) of the 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 through sustained 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐆𝐀𝐃) 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬, accessible legal aid services, and rights-based community engagement.

Through coordinated legal assistance, policy advocacy, and multi-sectoral partnerships, IBP Northern Samar continues to expand access to justice, empower vulnerable sectors, and reinforce institutional accountability in Northern Samar.
