The IIEE Northern Samar Chapter proudly participated in the recently concluded Northern Samar Renewable Energy Roadmap Multistakeholder Consultation held on June 17โ18, 2026, at the Ibabao Hall, Northern Samar Provincial Capitol, Catarman, Northern Samar.
Representing the Chapter were Engr. Frederick Pantua Dolorzo, Chapter Vice President for Technical Affairs, Engr. Arwin Jay U. Corsino, Chapter Auditor, RME Gerard Kenneth B. Arnado, Chapter Board of Director, and the ever-supportive Engr. Claro Sanchez Jr., P*E, whose extensive experience and valuable contributions played a significant role throughout the consultation activities. Also in attendance were our chapter members, Engr. Resty Gomba and Engr. Eric Fabroa, who represented their respective agencies.
The two-day engagement brought together various stakeholders, government agencies, electric power sector representatives, academic institutions, and development partners to collaboratively discuss strategies and opportunities that will help shape a more sustainable, resilient, and energy-secure future for Northern Samar.
The Chapter extends its heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Emil Ongchuan II, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member, for his trust and recognition of the IIEE Northern Samar Chapter as a dependable professional organization and valued stakeholder in provincial energy development initiatives.
We likewise thank the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC), the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), fellow stakeholders, and participating government agencies for facilitating meaningful discussions and fostering productive collaboration throughout the consultation.
As the voice of electrical engineering professionals in the province, the IIEE Northern Samar Chapter remains committed to contributing technical expertise and supporting initiatives that promote sustainable development, energy resilience, and progress for the people of Northern Samar.

The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines (IIEE) โ Northern Samar Chapter, under the leadership of Engr. Mechille M. Fabiala, Chapter President, through its Community Affairs Committee, successfully concluded its OPLAN DAGITAB: Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Cawayan Integrated School, Brgy. Cawayan, Catarman, Northern Samar.
Anchored on the theme, โ๐๐ฆ๐๐ช๐๐๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐ง๐๐ฆ, ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐ง๐๐๐ฅ๐ก ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐๐ฅ,โ the activity was conducted over three Saturdays due to the large number of classrooms and facilities requiring attention across both the Elementary and High School Departments. The initiative focused on classroom rehabilitation, minor electrical works, cleaning, and maintenance activities to help ensure a safe, functional, and conducive learning environment for students and educators.

Promoting sportsmanship, wellness, teamwork, and fellowship among professionals, the IIEE Northern Samar Chapter and the PICE Northern Samar Chapter successfully held a Basketball Exhibition Game last June 5, 2026, at the Brgy. Talisay Covered Court, Catarman, Northern Samar.
The friendly match served as an avenue for professionals from both organizations to strengthen professional relationships beyond the workplace while encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle. It also provided an opportunity for participants to showcase teamwork, discipline, and camaraderieโvalues that are equally important in both sports and professional practice.
The game concluded with a final score of 84โ71, with the IIEE Northern Samar Chapter Team emerging victorious. More importantly, the event highlighted the strong partnership and mutual respect shared by the engineering community in Northern Samar.
This exhibition game also serves as part of the chapter's preparation for the upcoming IIEE Eastern and Central Visayas Region Regional Conference, where the Northern Samar team will once again represent the chapter in the regional basketball competition.

As part of its continuing commitment to community service and educational support, the IIEE Northern Samar Chapter successfully conducted OPLAN DAGITAB: Brigada Eskwela 2026 at Calomotan Elementary School, Brgy. Calomotan, Laoang, Northern Samar, last June 5, 2026.
This meaningful initiative was led by Engr. Marilou Dianito-Naval, Chapter Board of Director, with the support of the Chapter Officers, Members, and volunteers who generously shared their time, effort, and resources to help prepare the school facilities for the incoming academic year.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the teaching and non-teaching personnel of Calomotan Elementary School, headed by ๐ ๐ฟ. ๐๐ผ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐ผ ๐ฃ. ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐, School Head, for their warm accommodation, cooperation, and dedication to providing a conducive learning environment for their students.
Special recognition is also given to the BSEE students of the UEP Laoang Campus, who are likewise active members of the IIEE UEPL SC Student Chapter, for their solid participation and enthusiasm throughout the activity. The Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. โ Northern Samar Chapter successfully conducted its 2026 1st General Membership Meeting with Hybrid Technical Seminars yesterday, May 16, 2026, from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM at JS Building, Catarman, Northern Samar, gathering electrical practitioners, students, industry stakeholders, and participants from both face-to-face and virtual platforms.
The program formally commenced with welcome remarks delivered by Engr. Leovin Calubag, Chapter Vice President for Internal Affairs, setting the tone for a full day of technical learning, professional engagement, and organizational updates.
The first technical session was presented by Engr. Arwin Jay U. Corsino with the topic, โSolar PV Systems Design and Installation.โ Participants from both onsite and online platforms highly appreciated the clarity, technical depth, and practical insights shared during the discussion.
The Chapter was also honored by the physical attendance of Engr. Rodrigo A. Almaden Jr., Governor of the IIEE Eastern and Central Visayas Region, who shared meaningful insights regarding the Chapter theme, regional developments, and updates from the National Office. Despite traveling from Tacloban City within the day together with his team, he graciously joined the event and was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation and token of gratitude by the Chapter.
Joining virtually, IIEE National President Engr. Robert Mabulay, P*E, ACPE, delivered an inspiring message to all attendees, sharing valuable perspectives aligned with the organizationโs theme and important updates from the national leadership. The Chapter is deeply honored by his participation and support.
Following the lunch break, the afternoon technical sessions immediately resumed with Engr. DarWin Dula Orsolino presenting the topic, โProvisions of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Systems as per RA 9514 (Fire Code of the Philippines of 2008),โ followed by Engr. Rimar C. Largo with the topic, โNORSAMELCO Application Procedures for Net Metering under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008.โ
Both sessions generated meaningful discussions and active engagement among the attendees, particularly on practical applications, compliance requirements, and current industry practices related to Solar PV systems and net metering processes. Participants highly appreciated the clarity, relevance, and technical depth of the discussions, making the sessions both informative and highly beneficial to practicing professionals and aspiring practitioners alike.
Adding excitement to the event, the traditional GMM raffle draws were conducted for the face-to-face participants, where multiple prizes were awarded, including 1st prize winners, 2nd prize winners, 3rd prize winners, and 10 consolation prize recipients.
One of the highlights of the program was the recognition of the nine (9) successful Registered Master Electrician (RME) passers who completed the Chapterโs RME Review and Mentoring Program, led by the Committee Chairman, Engr. Darwin Lambino de Asis , P*E, ACPE. The passers were awarded Certificates of Recognition in honor of their achievement and dedication.
The General Membership Meeting Proper was conducted during the latter part of the program, led by Engr. Mechille M Fabiala , Chapter President, together with the Chapter Officers, Ex Officio and members. Important updates regarding the current status of the Chapter, upcoming activities, organizational plans, and member participation initiatives were discussed.
