🌿 ECO YOUTH: Tree Planting and Clean-Up Drive Activity 🌿

Today, September 14, 2025, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Del Remedio, in partnership with MENRO-SWMO and MDRRMO Cardona, together with youth volunteers of Barangay Del Remedio, successfully held a meaningful environmental activity. 🌱💚

Despite the unfavorable weather, the team continued planting around 50 fruit-bearing seedlings while also joining forces in a community clean-up drive.

This initiative reflects our commitment to the theme:

Cardona Successfully Defends 𝟏𝟎-𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 Before the National Solid Waste Management Commission

The Municipality of Cardona has successfully presented and defended its 10-Year Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) before the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC), marking a significant milestone in its environmental governance efforts.

The panel of evaluators included:

• 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐜𝐬𝐨𝐧 – Commissioner, National Solid Waste Management Commission

• 𝐌𝐬. 𝐄𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐂. 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐨 – NGO Representative, NSWMC

• 𝐌𝐬. 𝐉𝐲𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 – DILG Central Office, Manila Bay Rehabilitation and Preservation Program

• 𝐌𝐬. 𝐌𝐚. 𝐋𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐥 – Administrative Officer, MMDA

Representing the Municipality of Cardona were Hon. Bernardo P. San Juan, Jr., Municipal Mayor; Mr. Martin Ceazar M. Hermocilla, Acting Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO); and Mr. Rhoeve Patrick Tano, Technical Staff.

Mayor San Juan opened the presentation by introducing the 10-Year Plan, then delegated the technical discussion to Mr. Hermocilla. The mayor also highlighted Cardona’s best practices in solid waste management, underscoring the municipality’s commitment to sustainable environmental solutions.
During the deliberation, panelists posed several questions regarding the plan’s implementation strategies and sustainability measures. These were confidently addressed by Mayor San Juan and Mr. Hermocilla, demonstrating the municipality's preparedness and vision.

As a result, the plan was finalized and endorsed to the NSWMC en banc. This achievement places Cardona among the first two municipalities out of the 13 and 1 city in the Province of Rizal to have undergone and successfully completed the deliberation process an important step forward in advancing local solid waste management initiatives.

Noong nakaraang biyernes nagkaroon ng Cardona Island Barangay visitation ang MENRO-SWMO Team kasama ang RPG- BUSILAK Patrollers na pinamumunuan ni Sir Tracy Tungque at ang MENRO ng Cardona Sir William P. Julian, jr.

Nakakatuwang isipin na kahit malayo sa atin ang mga barangay na ito ay napapanatili pa din nila ang kalinisan sa kanilang mga barangay lalong lalo na sa mga daanang Tubig, maging ang kanilang Material Recovery Facility(MRF) ay malinis at nakasa-ayos.
