Ever heard of ‘’FOMO’’?

It is when a person has a ‘’fear of missing out’’.

Sales and discounts... feed off that fear.

We all fall prey to it.

I can’t say I haven’t either.

We tend to make impulsive decisions when pressured because we’re scared of missing out on that limited offer.

Sales trick your mind into thinking that if you don’t make a move now, you’ll lose out.

And you know what they say, regret lasts a lifetime.

Unfortunately, when it comes to shopping… this could end up a costly belief to hold on to.

You think you're ‘’saving’’ the discounted amount of money.

When in reality, you’re spending that bigger chunk of money that could have been saved anyway if you didn’t buy it.

When I was first starting out with my new online venture after the first year, money was coming in fast, quick.

I was living life on the fast lane, buying the cars, travelling first class and five star hotels.

In my early 20’s, I always thought that this is what people would do when they made a lot of money.

It was about three years later when I sat down with a friend who was earning only about 20% of what I did but he was easily 10 times wealthier than me.

That’s when I realised that, it’s not about how much you can earn but…

… how much you can keep.

There are temptations all around us in all sorts of forms.

One who can’t control his temptations will be controlled by instead.

Think things through before you make an impulse buy… yet again.

Do better because you can.
