Tagapul-an at Almagro, Samar

I. PURPOSE OF THE VISIT
On January 7-8, 2026. The Division Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Monitoring Team, led by Jomie D. Tejones with Engineer Jane Cristy Uy, conducted an on-site visit to Calbiga I and II Districts to assess the implementation status of Clean Up and Clearing Operations and Minor Repair Funds. The primary objective was to verify compliance with guidelines, track fund utilization, and gather updates on activities aimed at enhancing safety conditions for learners, teachers and staff.
II. IMPLEMENTATION STATUS AND OBSERVATIONS
During the monitoring activity, the team inspected all schools that had been allocated funds under the program. Key findings include:
• Successful Fund Utilization: Every school downloaded under the initiative fully implemented the allocated funds, with resources directed toward critical areas such as classroom repairs, rehabilitation of school facilities (including walkways, drainage systems, and sanitation structures), and reinforcement of infrastructure to mitigate disaster risks.
• Safety-Focused Interventions: Repairs prioritized learner safety - damaged flooring, faulty electrical fixtures, and unstable structural components were addressed to create secure learning environments. Clearing operations targeted debris, clogged waterways, and overgrown vegetation to reduce hazards like flooding and fire risks.
III. RECOGNITION
Special thanks are extended to Sir Cornelio Federico Voces, DRRM Coordinator of Calbiga II District, for his invaluable support throughout the monitoring process. He provided comprehensive guidance, coordinated access to all visited schools, and shared detailed insights on local implementation challenges and best practices—greatly contributing to the efficiency and completeness of the assessment.
IV. OVERALL ASSESSMENT
The monitoring team confirms that all funded activities were completed in line with DRRM standards and program objectives. The proactive implementation not only improved physical infrastructure but also strengthened community awareness of disaster preparedness and school safety protocols.
