Tears, Thanks, and Transitions: Calbiga II District Bids Farewell and Welcomes New District Head

On September 5, 2025, Calbiga II District reached a meaningful milestone with the Send-off and Installation Ceremonies honoring the outgoing District Head, Dr. Mercelita Aban Arraz , and welcoming the new District Head, Ma Ruby Calong , formerly of Daram I District.

The solemn occasion was graced by the presence of Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Joel A. Zartiga, and Administrative Officer V, Sir Rodgie A. Pontejo, who personally presented the Special Order of designation. In his message, Dr. Zartiga emphasized the timeless values of dedication, diligence, transparency, and accountability as guiding principles of educational leadership.

With humility and wholehearted acceptance, Ma’am Ruby Calong expressed her readiness to embrace her new role and its responsibilities. The ceremony was filled with gratitude and heartfelt emotion as school heads conveyed their messages to Dr. Arraz, appreciating her unwavering dedication and leadership. Many words of thanks were delivered with tears, reflecting the deep respect and affection she had earned.

In her heartfelt response, Dr. Arraz expressed profound gratitude for the support of the school heads, whom she described as the true strength of the district. She also sincerely acknowledged the invaluable assistance of the non-teaching staff, Ma’am Mae Ann and Ma’am Daisy whose efforts made her work lighter and more meaningful.

The school heads, in turn, assured their support to the new District Head. While avoiding lofty promises, they committed to remain proactive and collaborative in advancing the district’s goals. Ma’am Ruby, in her message of appreciation, warmly recognized their support and reaffirmed her dedication to perform her duties as entrusted to her.

In the afternoon, a District Administrators’ Conference was held. Though brief due to other pressing commitments, it provided a concise overview of the district’s forthcoming plans and directions.

Indeed, the day was a beautiful blend of gratitude, change, and hope a true reflection of Calbiga II District’s spirit of service, unity, and unwavering commitment to education.
