With a program highlighting awareness, prevention, and collective responsibility in addressing gender-based violence, the nationwide 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, with the theme โ€œUNiTEd for a VAW-free Philippines,โ€ opened on December 1, 2025, at the covered court.

The event, aligned with RA 10398, or the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children, was formally opened by the Gender and Development Secretary, Mrs. Beverly R. Lebita, MSM, who delivered the Welcome Remarks and the Statement of Purpose.

โ€œThis program is a call to action to stop violence against women and look beyond silence,โ€ she said. Moreover, she presented the campaign activities, including a webinar for all faculty and staff, "Safe Spaces for All: Understanding RA 7877 and RA 11313," as well as student-centered activities such as quiz bowl, debate, spoken poetry, jingle, poster-making, and advocacy video contests.

Campus Director Dr. Roxanne P. Altea emphasized the importance of creating a learning environment where women and girls are protected and valued. She stressed that violence includes not only physical harm but also mental, emotional, verbal, digital, and silent forms of abuse.

โ€œIt is everyoneโ€™s responsibility to recognize violence and help prevent it,โ€ she stated.

A trivia activity led by campus GAD TWG, Dr. Stanley O. Rasonabe, engaged students with awareness prompts, followed by the Pledge of Commitment, facilitated by Equitas President Mae Kyla Escalera.

The program closed with the Juana Dance led by the Sayawi Performing Arts, with students and employees joining in support of the campaignโ€™s call for a community where women and girls can live safely and confidently.

This event reinforced the campaignโ€™s call for a community that actively rejects violence and upholds the rights and safety of all women and girls.

The dream destination is a VAW-free country, and our commitment today determines where we will be tomorrow.

As the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) spearheads the national 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against Women, we call on every Filipino to move from awareness to action, from advocacy to activism, and from watchers to warriors.

This is more than an invitation; it is a shared national responsibility to ensure every woman and girl lives free from fear, abuse, and violence.

A VAW-free Philippines gives us the following signals for action:
๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—ข๐—ฃ violence against women. Womenโ€™s rights are human rights.
๐—Ÿ๐—ข๐—ข๐—ž beyond silence. Do not judge a story you donโ€™t fully know.
๐—Ÿ๐—œ๐—ฆ๐—ง๐—˜๐—ก with compassion. Put yourself in the shoes of victim-survivors, and champion their right to safety, dignity, and justice.

Ending VAW rests on all of us. Let us rise as one, stand UNiTEd, and build a VAW-free Philippines!
