VOTING on the IMPEACHMENT!

One of the many flaws of the 1987 Philippine Constitution is the provision that requires just ONE-THIRD (1/3) votes of all members of the House of Representatives to IMPEACH the President, VP, SC Justices, Members of Constitutional Commission & Ombudsman. This does not represent the voice of the majority of the Filipino people and it runs contrary to the principle of representative democracy that “sovereignty resides in the people”.

In the USA in order to IMPEACH such public officials named in the US Constitution, a simple majority (1/2+1) votes of all House members is required in order that trial in the Senate can proceed.

This current administration is facing this big dilemma on the pending impeachment of VP SARA DUTERTE which will be voted upon in the plenary session of the HOR any day this week or soonest.

VP Sara was overwhelmingly voted upon by more than 32-million Filipinos in the 2022 elections. Such huge number of votes was more than majority of the total number of voters who casted there votes then. She has the mandate of the people! If the HOR cannot get a simple majority but just more than 1/3 of the members to impeach her, then it becomes a BIG propaganda NIGHTMARE of the government . Hence, there maybe truth to the reported threats of filing criminal cases against members of Congress who will not support the Impeachment of VP Sara Duterte.

Regardless of the outcome of the voting which will inevitably impeach VP Sara Duterte, I believe and confident that the Filipino people will not accept it. They won’t keep silent any longer and let their democratic rights be trampled upon by members of the present Congress who are involved in the biggest corruption scandal ever reported in our country and the continuing cover-up including weaponization of the government agencies to silence the people.

I can feel the boiling heat inside every Filipino over how the government is running a dirty criminal political game especially during these times of economic crises when most are suffering with hunger and poverty.

I still pray and hope that the light of peace and justice will not be extinguished FORTHWITH in the SENATE though!

An Open Letter to Congressman Jose Manuel F. Lagdameo from the Samalenyos

Honorable Congressman JM Lagdameo,

We write to you today not only as your constituents but as the people who entrusted you with the mandate to represent our voices in the halls of Congress.

We are well aware of your standing in the current administration. We recognize the vital role your family plays in the national landscape—specifically your brother’s position as the "alter ego" of the President. However, as the Representative of the 2nd District of Davao del Norte, your primary duty is to serve as the echo of our sentiments and the protector of our collective will.

The numbers speak a truth that cannot be ignored:

-In the 2022 elections, 95% of Samal Island cast their votes for Vice President Sara Duterte.

-Current sentiments across Mindanao reflect a staggering 97% support rating for the Vice President.

These are not just statistics; they are the heartbeats of the people who stood under the sun to put you and this administration in office.

We, the Samalenyos and the residents of the 2nd District, humbly yet firmly request that you keep your ear to the ground. If the Articles of Impeachment reach the plenary, we ask you to vote an emphatic NO.

We voted for you to be our voice, not a silent witness to the removal of the leader we overwhelmingly chose.

Congressman JM, we pray that when the time comes to stand up and be counted, you will stand with the 2nd District. Please honor the trust of your fellow Davaoeños.
