National Pet Month is a celebration of the connection people share with the animals who become part of their lives — the quiet routines, the comfort they bring, and the kind of presence that slowly turns into family. 🧡🩵🐾
It also serves as a reminder of the responsibility that comes with loving them. Proper care, patience, safe spaces, regular feeding, and understanding their needs are all part of giving animals the kind of life they deserve.
This observance also continues to shed light on animal welfare, rescue efforts, and the importance of supporting local shelters that care for abandoned and neglected animals every day.
And while many pets get to experience the comfort of a home, there are still countless strays and rescue animals waiting for that same chance. May this month encourage more people to adopt, support, and show compassion not only to the animals we call our own, but also to those still searching for safety and care. 🐱🐶

Last Wednesday, May 20, 2026 was National Dog Rescue Day — a reminder of the many dogs in shelters and on the streets still waiting to be seen, chosen, and given a place to call home. 🐾
Some of them were left behind. Some grew up without knowing what permanence feels like. Yet even after everything, many still learn to trust again in small ways — a slow approach, a softer gaze, a quiet acceptance of care.
There’s something about rescue dogs that stays with you. The way they adjust once they feel safe, the way their behavior shifts when fear is no longer the first thing they feel, and the way they begin to exist like they were never meant to be forgotten in the first place.
Days like this bring attention, but care for them shouldn’t end there. Every day can be a chance to support rescues, help shelters, or consider adoption, because for them, timing matters just as much as intention. 🐶🧡🩵

Being kind is free. Be Kind to Animals Month served as a reminder that kindness shouldn't only be given to humans—it should reach even the animals that we coexist with. 🐾✨
One act of kindness can mean everything to them and they'll appreciate you for the rest of their lives. Just a small gesture or action—feeding the strays, giving them water, or giving them gentle pats—is making a meaningful difference in their lives.
Humanity shouldn't be just shown in how we treat each other, but also in the way we provide adequate care for the wonderful animals around us. They may not be speaking the same language as us but it should never be hindrance to understand that they deserve the same amount of kindness, comfort, and love.
In this world, we hope that we can continue to foster and give kindness freely to every animal. 💙💛

On April 15, The Whiskers Project returned to Barangay Milagrosa, Calamba City for our 7th Stray Feeding Program in partnership with Vetra & Veravit. 🧡🩵🐾
Milagrosa has become one of the places we continuously come back to because of the number of strays living within the area. Even after several visits, the situation remains difficult for many of them. Some stay near small stores, some quietly wait outside homes, while others roam the streets already familiar with surviving off little to nothing each day.
While moving around the community, we also met residents who still choose to care despite the environment around them. People who leave food outside, check on the animals when they can, and continue showing compassion even when support for stray welfare feels limited.
With the help of our volunteers and the support from Vetra & Veravit, we continued feeding the strays around the area and spending time within the community that has slowly become familiar to us too.
Returning to places like this always leaves something behind. The faces become recognizable. The animals start approaching with less fear. And somehow, each visit becomes a reminder that consistency matters more than grand gestures ever will. 🐱🐶

🐾 WHISKERmustahan: Volunteer Get-Together & Stray Feeding Program 🐾
Last April 3, 2026, The Whiskers Project held WHISKERmustahan — a volunteer get-together and stray feeding program that brought together advocates connected by one common cause: animal welfare. 💛
Held at The Plaza in Calamba City, the activity became a space not only for feeding strays within the area, but also for volunteers to reconnect, share stories, and strengthen the community we continue to build through our advocacy.
Beyond the feeding program itself, WHISKERmustahan served as a reminder that caring for animals also means creating a support system among the people behind the movement. Through simple conversations, shared experiences, and collective efforts, we continue to grow as a community dedicated to becoming the voice for the voiceless. 🐶🐱
This activity was made possible with the support of Vetra & Veravit, whose sponsorship helped us continue our feeding initiatives for stray animals.
Here’s to more meaningful moments, stronger connections, and continued compassion for our strays. 🐾

🏠 ADOPT A SHELTER PET DAY 🐾
Last April 30 marked Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, a vital reminder that thousands of animals are still waiting in shelters for a safe and loving forever home. While the official date has passed, the mission at The Whiskers Project remains constant because adoption is a life-saving choice that gives abandoned animals the second chance they truly deserve. Choosing to adopt instead of buy doesn't just change one animal's life—it helps reduce shelter overcrowding and allows more rescued animals to receive proper care and attention.
Before you decide to become a hero to a shelter pet, it is important to reflect on the long-term responsibility involved. Welcoming a new furry family member means ensuring your lifestyle and home environment are ready for their specific needs, from basic food and shelter to regular veterinary care. It also requires a great deal of patience, as adopted pets often need time and a calm space to unlearn their past fears and fully adjust to a new life. By choosing adoption, you are making a decision that transforms a life and inspires others in the community to prioritize animal welfare every single day.

Today is Free Feral Cat Spay Day—a reminder of the quiet but important work that happens behind the scenes for community cats. 🧡🩵🐾
This day focuses on helping feral cats get spayed and receive basic health care—small interventions that create lasting impact. Because for cats living on the streets, these efforts mean fewer risks, safer lives, and a future that isn’t defined by constant survival.
It’s not always the most visible kind of care, but it’s one of the most meaningful. Supporting initiatives like this helps protect not just one life, but generations to come.
And in the same way we show love through feeding and rescue, we also show it through responsible action—choosing solutions that truly make a difference for them. 🐱

Today is National Pet Parents Day—a day that celebrates the kind of love that shows up every single day, in both big and quiet ways. 🧡🩵🐾
Being a pet parent goes beyond affection. It’s in the responsibility, the patience, and the choice to care, even on the days when it’s not easy. It’s building a life where they feel safe, understood, and loved in ways they may not be able to say, but always show.
And while we celebrate those who are lucky enough to have a home, may this also be a gentle reminder of the many animals still waiting for that kind of love. The kind that chooses them, stays for them, and grows with them.
Because at the end of the day, being a pet parent is about becoming someone a life can depend on. 🐾
