TYPERIGHT x OOTB: Conversations That Spark Media Literacy

Last November 8, during the Ugnay 2025 Philippine MIL Summit, we had the privilege of talking with Miss Sarah Torres, founder of the Out of The Box Media Literacy Initiative (OOTB).

Since 2014, OOTB has been at the forefront of promoting critical thinking, responsible media use, and empowering communities through media literacy education. Miss Torres shared with us the heart behind the organization, how it began, and why media literacy has become more essential than ever in today’s digital landscape.

As TypeRighters, we believe that meaningful conversations like this help strengthen our mission to build a culture of mindful and responsible online engagement. Hearing from someone who has dedicated more than a decade to media literacy reminds us that the fight against misinformation is a shared journey, one we continue together.

Let’s keep learning, questioning, and typing right.

First words, first stand.
We are TypeRighters, a small group comprising of only three people with dreams of shaping stories with truth, courage, and critical thought.

"The Truth That Binds Us" is a spoken poem exploring the importance of media literacy and the weight of our role in society. We are responsible for understanding the media we consume and for holding ourselves accountable in using that knowledge wisely.

Be aware. Be responsible. Make a conscious choice to speak the truth.

🎥 Watch our first performance and join us in this movement for mindful storytelling and critical thinking in the digital age.
