Hey everyone, if you're an atheist or skeptic, you've probably heard 'There's no evidence for God.' Fair enough — extraordinary claims need solid evidence.

But what if the strongest piece of evidence isn't philosophical arguments or the universe's fine-tuning... but a real historical person: Jesus of Nazareth?

Today, I'm sharing a list of 7 reasons why Jesus could be powerful evidence that God exists. These draw from historical facts that even most skeptical scholars (including atheists like Bart Ehrman) accept. Let's dive in — no preaching, just the data.

1. *Jesus of Nazareth was a real historical figure*
Virtually all historians — Christian, atheist, agnostic — agree Jesus existed, was baptized by John, taught as a Jewish rabbi, and was crucified under Pontius Pilate around 30 AD. Non-Christian sources like Josephus, Tacitus, and Pliny the Younger mention him.
Why it matters: If Jesus claimed to be divine and backed it with extraordinary acts, we can't just dismiss him as myth. A real person with massive impact demands explanation.

2. *His disciples were convinced he rose from the dead — and they didn't just believe it, they died for it*
The early followers went from terrified (hiding after the crucifixion) to boldly proclaiming he rose — in the same city where it happened. Most were executed for this claim. People die for beliefs, but rarely for something they know is a lie.
Why it appeals: Hallucinations or lies don't explain group willingness to face death.

3. *The tomb was found empty — a fact even early critics admitted*
Opponents said "The disciples stole the body" (implying the tomb was empty). No one produced the body to debunk Christianity. Women (low-credibility witnesses in that culture) are listed as first discoverers — unlikely if fabricated.
Why it matters: An empty tomb + appearances = data needing an explanation beyond natural causes.

4. *Skeptics like Paul and James dramatically converted*
Paul (Saul) was a fierce persecutor of Christians — then claimed to see the risen Jesus and became the movement's biggest advocate (executed for it). James, Jesus' own brother, was initially skeptical but later led the Jerusalem church and was martyred.
Why it appeals: Enemies turning into believers suggests something extraordinary happened.

5. *The rapid rise of Christianity in a hostile environment defies normal sociology*
A crucified Jewish teacher (seen as cursed under Jewish law and a criminal under Rome) sparked a movement that exploded — without military power, wealth, or political support. Within decades, it spread across the empire.
Why it matters: Something unprecedented fueled this — not typical human psychology or legend growth.

6. *Jesus' claims and miracles are multiply attested in early sources*
The earliest Christian creeds (e.g., 1 Corinthians 15, dated to within 2–5 years of the crucifixion) report resurrection appearances to many. Multiple independent Gospel traditions report healings, nature miracles, and divine claims ("I and the Father are one").
Why it appeals: If even a fraction hold up historically, it points beyond normal human power.

7. *The resurrection best explains all the data together*
Historians use "inference to the best explanation." Natural theories (swoon, theft, hallucination, legend) each fail to account for all agreed-upon facts. The resurrection hypothesis fits without contradiction — and if God exists, raising someone isn't impossible.
Why it appeals to skeptics: It's not circular faith; it's historical reasoning. If the evidence points here, it opens the door to God being real.

I'm not saying this proves everything — but if you're intellectually honest, the historical Jesus is hard to wave away. He forces the question: Was he just a good teacher... or something more?

If God raised Jesus, that's direct evidence God exists and intervened in history.

Closer Than I Ever Knew

Devotional Thought:
For many years, I thought of God as distant—a mighty presence watching from afar, perhaps too holy or too vast to be involved in the details of my life. But slowly, through quiet moments and divine interruptions, I began to see the truth: He was never far. In fact, He was always closer than I dared to believe.

God wasn’t waiting for me to perform. He was waiting for me to converse. To simply talk. To be real. And when I did, I discovered a love so personal, so affectionate, that I felt like I was His only creation. Not because others don’t matter—but because His love is that vast and that intimate.

I’m no longer just learning about Him—I’m walking with Him. And in that walk, I’ve found peace, clarity, and identity. I know now that I am seen, heard, and deeply loved.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for being near. Thank You for waiting patiently for me to turn and talk to You. Help me never forget that Your presence is constant and Your love is personal. Let me live today in the confidence that I am held by You. Amen.

When truth is even slightly distorted, it ceases to be truth.
Setting aside faith for brotherhood risks violating the First Commandment:

When brotherhood is placed above God, we enter spiritually dangerous ground and become vulnerable to deception, even to evil attacks.
