๐๐ข๐ข๐ | The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) Department of QSU Cabarroguis Campus successfully conducted an extension training activity in partnership with the Municipal Government of Aglipay through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and the Municipal Nutrition Office (MNO). The activity, held from May 12 to 14, 2026, at the BSCS Computer Laboratory of the QSU Cabarroguis Campus, aimed to strengthen the digital competencies of barangay personnel under the LGUโs Project C.O.R.E. (Competency in Office Resources and Efficiency). A total of 25 participants, composed of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) and Secretaries, attended the three-day training.
The extension activity focused on the โComputer Literacy Enhancement Training for Frontline Barangay Staff of the Municipality of Aglipay,โ which was designed to equip participants with essential computer skills needed in modern public service. BSCS faculty members served as lecturers and trainers, providing hands-on sessions on digital office management and other basic computer applications. Through interactive demonstrations and practical exercises, participants enhanced their knowledge and confidence in utilizing computer applications for efficient office operations and public service delivery.
The training highlighted the continuing partnership between Quirino State University and the Municipal Government of Aglipay in promoting community development through education and extension services. Municipal representatives expressed their gratitude for the successful collaboration, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy in improving local governance and administrative efficiency. The activity further strengthened QSUโs commitment to community engagement and its mission of empowering communities through relevant and responsive extension programs.

Faculty members of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) Program participated in the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators (PSITE) Region 02 General Assembly held on April 23, 2026, via Zoom, hosted by the PSITE Cagayan Valley Region, with the theme โStrengthening IT Education through Collaboration, Certification, and Innovation.โ
The assembly served as a significant platform for professional engagement and collaboration among IT educators across the region, featuring discussions and activities on CodeChum training, international certification opportunities in IT education through Pearson VUE, Certiport, and Linux representatives, industry visits and benchmarking initiatives, updates on PSITE by-laws, recognition of active members, and the oath-taking of new PSITE Cagayan Valley Chapter officers. These initiatives underscore the organizationโs continuing commitment to advancing excellence and innovation in computing and information technology education.
A notable highlight of the event was the recognition of Dr. Wilyn S. Marzo, Campus Director for Student Affairs and Services and faculty member of the BSCS Department, who was awarded a Certificate of Recognition as one of the PSITE Region 02 interim officials. In her message, Dr. Marzo expressed her gratitude to the organization for the trust bestowed upon her during her term of service and reaffirmed her continued support and commitment to the organization even beyond her tenure.
Representing the BSCS Program in the assembly were Dr. Melidiossa V. Pagudpud, Dr. Wilyn S. Marzo, Mr. Reynold A. Rustia, Mr. Bryan Natividad, Engr. Ivy May DC. Rumbaoa, Ms. Janess Shaira N. Mangusin, Mr. Wilmar B. Serrano, Mr. Jerald C. Palecpec, and Ms. May N. Roque. Their participation reflects the programโs sustained support for professional development initiatives and collaborative efforts that contribute to strengthening quality CS education.

MOVING FORWARD | Right after the CHED monitoring and evaluation activity last April 22, the BSCS faculty gathered for the Target Cascading session to align individual targets with the BSCS Strategic Plan.
Through collaborative discussions and purposeful planning, the activity strengthened shared commitment among BSCS faculty members in advancing the programโs goals and sustaining a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

IN PHOTOS | The Commission on Higher Education Region II (CHEDR02) conducted its monitoring and evaluation of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) program of Quirino State University Cabarroguis Campus, last April 22, 2026, via online.
The activity provided an opportunity for the program to be assessed and guided in line with CHED standards. The evaluator shared helpful feedback, acknowledging some positive practices while also pointing out areas that may still be improved for further program strengthening.
The BSCS department remains grateful for the insights and guidance shared, which will serve as direction for continuous growth and better service to our students.
