There was a version of us that existed somewhere—
we were happily in love, whole and unafraid,
but not here, not now, only in the quiet corner of my mind.

I was brave enough to speak about my feelings—
not pressured, nor ashamed of what I felt.
In that world, we didn’t pass each other
pretending not to know,
like strangers who once meant something.

In that world, we chose each other—
freely, without doubt, without burden.

We were simple, yet certain.
No hesitation in our voices,
no fear in our hearts.
Love came easy, like breathing,
like it was always meant to be ours.

We didn’t have to wonder “what if,”
because we were already living the answer.
Days were filled with quiet laughter,
and nights were soft with understanding.

But here—
in this world—
we are only almost.

Two people who felt something real,
